    Cool Care of exterior anodizing

    Hi,
Just bought an '05 cab a few weeks ago and I'm trying to show it some love; the rear deck and windshield both have clear anodized aluminum and the front is a little crazed. Anybody have suggestions for care/repair?

Are you talking about paint oxidation?

No, not paint, the big clear anodized silver trim around the windshield and boot cover are what I was asking about. I seem to remember Porsche reccomending vaseline or something years ago...

Vaseline? Um, okay...so I take it you have a 3.0? There's a chrome polish/protector you can get by Turtle Wax and Mothers as well.

For dull aluminum I would use some wenol with a power drill and a modified polishing end. Problem solved.

No, It's a 1.8t CVT. Anodizing is an electroplated coating on Aluminum that "protects" the raw material, so abrasive buffing is out. The crazing, I think is a failure of the plating. I guess I'll just wax it and hope for the best....
