Last cry for help... $50 REWARD to winnar!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Instead of posting random logs an what not, can someone show me a link or tell me what I should be seeing as far as...

    1) MAF readings
    2) AFR readings
    3) Timing
    4) IAT
    5) Anything else that is important

I have been trying to figure out for almost 2 years, the problem with my car... I am getting a low boost request as well as low AFR request... Car is requesting 9.8AFR from 4500 rpm on up, also at 4500 my requested boost is around the 10-14 range... Can I also get some mechanical things to check? Things replaced so far are MAF, injectors, o2 sensor, IAT sensor, CTS, coilpacks/plugs, vacuum lines, check valves, PCV system, DV, FPR and NONE of the listed helped/fixed the problem... Someone mentioned I replace/remove the combi valve and SAI pump, but I don't see how those can cause my condition when the car is warmed up... Yes, it sounds like a quiet vacuum on cold mornings... When I disconnected the FPR, my requested boost went up to where it should have been...

What are the syptoms of a soft limp? What can cause soft limp? Running rich could cause it? Rich running from a FPR? I live in BFE and have no one within 60 miles that I can swap parts with... I have even offered buying beer for them or even a KEG! I haven't gotten help yet... Seriously, the person that helps me find this, I will paypal them $50...

Car is a 2001 1.8t with GIAC X, 5 speed, Borla V2... If I cannot fix it soon, I am selling the car... CHEAP...

This must be bugging the ish out of you ehh? I'd just recommend swapping ECUs man. Do you have a stock one? I have a stock one waiting for a future but I'm scared to loose/have it broken if I ship it to someone. The reason I say this is then with a different or even a stock ECU, you can check if the requested boost is normal and now low like yours. Give me block numbers you want me to log on mine and I can send you the data of my setup which seams to be running fine.

since it is a B5, i highly recommend to call VAST performance. B5 oil runs in their veins.

My brother got a Mk4 2.0 and its not that bad. You'd probably be happier with it as it wouldn't cause you headahes all day.

You disconnected the FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator) ? I sure hope not---- could have gone boom with that one (assuming you hit boost with it disconnected).

Yes, I hit full boost with it disconnected... The leanest my car got was a dead even 13.0 which, yes it is lean... I still didn't get any CF's either on block 20...

Re: Last cry for help... $50 REWARD to winnar!

What is your afr @ idle?

Assuming the tune is good, it sounds like you have a leak after the MAF. How does the car run with the MAF disconnected?

Re: Last cry for help... $50 REWARD to winnar!

Runs same with MAF disconnected. MAF isn't the problem... At idle it is 14.7... My 032 trims read 0.2% and -2.3%... Disconnect the FPR and the trims jump to 3.8% and driving is 4.3%... May have been -4.3% but cannot remember... Brother has my car right now... There is no leak anywhere as per a 30psi test... (Didn't realize it was 30 psi due to a cheap regulator on my good compressor!)

I agree. Swap Ecu's or possibly knock sensor? 13:1 A/F should have had knock readings.

Unless I wasn't running enough timing... Does anyone have a good timing log I can look at?

Did you ever have someone check to see if your fuel pressure is correct or swap out your fpr for a new one?

Swapped FPR with an old one laying around here... No go... I would still like to check pressure however... I just don't know where to get the t at... Or gauge... Would a cheap one from Autozone work if they have them in stock?

Won't really be able to check fuel pressure while driving... Unless you have an in-house dyno. I would check your mom's, dad's, sister's, brother's, best friend's, and/or girlfriend's car to see if they have a Bosch-style FPR you can borrow and swap it in; assuming their car runs just fine though.

Sure you can, just need a gauge setup that uses a sender. I used to run one, still have the gauge in the car but pulled the sender out. I actually had 3 different ways to read my fuel pressure at that time.
