Elbow grease, a wet rag, and a vacuum to suck up any leaves and dust.

    Re: Engine Bay clean up

    1. Vacuum all visible dirt/dust while brushing with a soft bristled brush.
    2. Use a diluted multi-purpose cleaner and paper towels to spray/wipe the dirty areas.

    3. Dry thouroughly and dress it up.

cover the intake. spray it on the cool or cold engine and let it sit for a few min. then use an old toothbrush or some other brush to loosen up the dirt. then rinse it with water. do not spray water under preasure. let the water dry before starting the engine. after water dries use back to black for plastic. all done. sit back and enjoy your superclean enginebay.

I pretty much do the same thing as you Brett but I also use a blower to get rid of leaves, water. dust or anything else that I can't reach.

Yeah that's a good point. Forgot that step. I use my air compressor with the air blower gun, dirt goes a-flyin'!!

Brett-- I used the pressure washer to rinse the engine off.. I didn't directly point to the engine.. I used it on an angle.. It worked really well. So far I don't have any issue..

    Re: Engine Bay clean up

You're a lucky guy. I never spray water into my engine bay.

In my teens, I worked at a car stereo/detail shop and some of the guys would use a hose to rinse engines off while they were running. 90% of all these attempts resulted in the car not starting again for several hours and someone having to open/dry all ignition connections.

    Re: Engine Bay clean up

just cover your intake and maf with a plastic bag and power wash the whole motor. No harm can be done. I took a dish scrubber wand thing and scrubbed everything then just power washed it away. Looks brand new.
