Wow, why do our cars have to be such a headache??? One minute they are awesome and the next they leave us wishing we had anything but an Audi.... Sorry guess I'm just complaining.... cuz it seems like the more money I put in to my car just to keep it running the worse it actually runs??? doesn't make sense.... sorry this is just a waste of a post, but I'm just super frustrated with my car right now....

    Re: Such a headache....

Where to start.... In one year of ownership I've ended up spending over 8k just to keep it running... not including the usual oil changes and servicing... there first there was the sludge problem 2 days after I bought it which cost me over $3,200... then 2 months later 2 motor mounts broke and the front brake pads and tie rods needed to be replaced cost over $1,800... then some random other O2 sensor and PCV valve broke, along with my entire windshield washer system (when I was in Tahoe, not fun at all during a snow storm) basically another $1000... then I just had the clutch done another $1,800, I picked the car up today... and it is making a weird noise when I rev it and put the clutch in and out.... gotta take it back now... and on top of that the turbo seems to be making a funny flutter noise when cold.... And keep this in mind, everything on the car is bone stock except for the H&R/Bilstein suspension that I had done... and the AWE clutch/flywheel kit that was just put in, and an APR R1 DV....I just can't afford a $4000 turbo swap right now being a college student.... and I'm now at the point where if I try and sell it I won't get anything for it, so I might as well keep it.... just one big lemon I guess....

Have you considered doing the work yourself? I bet more then 3/4 of that 8k went into labor.

    x2

Jesus, if I were in your shoes the car would have been sold LONG ago. Not a wise car for a college student who doesn't want to do the work himself.

hey I know where you're coming from. I spent over 4k on the first 4 months i had the car. Now I do absolutely everything myself, it's still expensive but not as much.

    Re: Such a headache....

Yeah I've thought about it and i try to do the little things but I just neither have the skill nor the special tools and jack my car up and perform a clutch job or the suspension on it since I live on a hill and our house has like a non existent garage.... I try and do the little things but its not the things like oil changes that are making me broke its when the big things break and it just seems like they have all happened so soon....

Should have done the homework here on AZ before you picked up an Audi. Over 100k they usually start becoming a money pit. Some of the stuff you mentioned are things that needed to be done regardless. Next time, get a 2WD car thats less to maintain.

Even a beater would be cheaper to drive in some cases. I have been driving shit buckets for two weeks now and im getting a kick out of it.
