    Suspension problem

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I bought a set of stock sport suspension from a member. When I went to have it installed today, my mechanics said that the rear pair won't fit. He's suspecting that this set is for quattro. I want to ask what is the different between the quattro suspension and the fwd suspension? How can I distingusih them?

(p.s. I forgot to ask the seller whether its from a quattro when I bought it)

    Re: Suspension problem

The rear suspension is different from quattro to frontrak in the B5 chassis. I haven't had either apart enough to know if anything interchanges, but I don't think it'll work well.

    Re: Suspension problem

I just wanna make sure that the set is for quattro. Here is a picture. The mechanic only changed the front pair and leaving the rear pair. The red ones are the rear pair. Are they for quattro? Thanks

    Re: Suspension problem

    Those are indeed quattro shocks.
However, the fronts are non-sport, while the rears are sports. Not necessarily a great idea mismatching the shocks like that.

    Re: Suspension problem

Yeah, but the mechanic already changed the front shocks (to sport from non-sport). He did NOT change the rear yet (hence the sport). His goal is all sport, but he has the wrong rear setup.

I have a whole set of FWD sport suspension in my garage, but it appears to be shot. I would have given them all to you for just shipping too

    Re: Suspension problem

So sad. I think I need to have the front changed back to the non-sport one and try to sell the sport set. sigh.

    Re: Suspension problem

Another question. Is the spring rate for quattro and FWD different?
