It's about time I joined the club. I've grown tired of the small k03s and the k04 turbos really quickly.

Wow looks like it's Christmas in August too

The UPS came and dropped off my new lwfw & clutch (and I picked up a few other odds and ends at the audi dealership):

Pictured is some G12 coolant, a pipe I needed to weld on a flange, a 15 lb lwfw, and a stage 5 southbend clutch

This is going to be a lot of fun!!!

Yeah. I never should have went for a ride in your car. You guys are evil

Although it's for the best since I'm loosing cylinder pressure anyway (that's my rationalization).

It will be nice to have something other than gobs of low end torque especially since I have zero top end with the k04.

I'm using tuning from PES. It's supposed to be GIAC based actually. Bassed was running it when he used this setup before on his 01 so I'm going to pop it on my car can give it a whirl too.

Got another shipment in of parts. I think there are only a few more coming in after this. Aaron, looks like I got everything needed for this weekend though.

Aaron said he wants to start @ 8am on Saturday.

Can't wait to break everything in so I can get the bigger turbo in there also. Kind of a waste to have all these nice new parts and only have a k04.

Re: Christmas in July!!! Got some goodies :-)

Very true. I was very happy with my k04 setup till I got a ride in Aaron's old car. Then I knew the k04 wasn't going to cut it for me.

So let that be a lesson to everyone thinking about getting a k04. If you are planning to go k04, do NOT ride in someone's car who has a GT2871R and putting down close to 300 whp. It makes it feel like you are driving a Geo Metro when you hop back in your k04'd car.

P.S. - I'm really glad I bit the bullet and went for a bigger turbo though. The k04 would have gotten boring after a while anyway I think.

Got some more little odds and ends. Looks like 034 sent me the wrong exhaust flange though so I'll have to call them tomorrow. I asked for a flange to connect to the stock exhaust size but they sent me a 3" one.

I have a neuspeed exhaust and the pipe that normally connects to the stock CAT is the same size as stock then it tapers out to 2.75" so I was hoping to just bolt up my new atp test pipe to the neuspeed setup.

the exhaust only flows as much as its biggest restriction... just have a 3" flange welded onto your neuspeed... trust me!

That big of a difference for me going from 2.36" to 2.75"? If that's the case and it is a huge difference I need to find a transition from 3" to 2.75" to hit the rest of the exhaust and then find some more stainless piping to weld on it it.

well considering how close it is to the turbo, yes itll make a big difference on a real BT setup... later on once the gases cool down and get more dense, its not so much of a difference... but it that area id say no 60mm

Gotcha. I'll look into picking up some piping to have welded up to keep a 3" until I have to bring it down to a 2.75" to hook into the rest of the exhaust.

not much to an 8v. Pulling motors is not fun. We ran out of space for parts cause i still have all my parts laying around in my garage. I slept at around 4:30AM after a soaking in the shower with degreaser.

The build went pretty smoothly. The only real hiccup was a couple forgotten connectors. #4 injector and the coolant temp sensor and I installed the wrong oring on the coolant hard pipe. Fixed and the engine ran great right from the start.
