Mods for A4 1.8 T b5?

Hi I just bought an A4 1.8 T b5 and I am really excited to start doing some mods on it. The car has around 88,000 miles and someone told me that it would be better to change the timing belt before doing something else, I scheduled my car to replace that belt next week. But after that, with what should I start with?

I just try and make people feel welcome and tell them to use the search function. And try and help as I can.

The person whom told you to do the timing belt gave you great advice. It can cost you $300 tops if you are a DIY person, or $550-750 from a decent priced shop. But it is def worth the headache of not having to worry about the belt snapping on you. As for mods, read the FAQ sheet, which I am sure you have by now, and go from there. Take your time with your mods. Don't let it swallow your pockets whole. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with buying used products. It can save you a lot of money. Depending on what it is you buy used though.

To the OP, make sure you search all permutations of the kind of help you want as it can give a lot of different info depending on search terms. tho most are helpful on here tbh and very techie too

This is the general way that people mod this car in order.

1. Chip, upgraded DV, KNN filter

2. Exhaust

3. FMIC (front mount intercooler)

4. Clutch/ LWFW (lightweight flywheel), be sure to get one that will hold the turbo you plan on going with.

From there you are setup to go with a big turbo, most people go with a smaller GT28 series turbo. With this you need ECU, Injectors, turbo (and manifold if you dont go with an eliminator series GT turbo), misc. pluming and new gaskets are needed as well.

At some point you want to go with suspension mods, a nice coil over kit and a big rear sway bar (with upgraded links and sway bar mounting reinforcement brackets).
