Whats everyone think of Land Rover Freelanders?
I'm looking at an 02, it has alot of miles (~140) but its really cheap and I'm not looking to spend alot on a DD.
Its nicely optioned and very clean, but I've heard some people have issues with the FL's.
    What you guys say?

I'm a Series I Discovery owner, these cars are a nightmare. BMW owned them from 96 to 2002, and now ford is at the head, all the pre-ford ownership cars are a complete disaster. Stay clear.

    Re: Opinions on Freelanders

in college my buddy bought an '02 Freelander the year it came out. yes he had a warranty, but many many random things went wrong with the car. ie. front passenger side speaker just falling off of the door onto the car floor, overheating for no reason in 50 degree weather. he never found out why the car overheated, and it was ten minutes before we were about to go on a road trip. it was in the shop over and over again for really strange and random issues.

Not that it matters, but are the newer (Ford-owned) models more reliable?
