Question brake pad light after change???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just changed the front pads, replaced the pads with Mintex that have sensors. They are both plugged in but I'm still getting the "change brake pads" light, are there sensors on the rear brakes as well?

Do I need to reset things with vag?

No and no (sensors in rear pads or reset w/ VAG). Check connections again. I currently have permanent brake pad light. We think water got in the lines and corroded them.

Re: brake pad light after change???

Alright... I didn't want to bring this back from the dead but I'm stumped! I cut the brake pad sensor wires, looped them together and plugged them back in. Also I have a 2000 so in the link above, I can't recode my cluster. I tried, and it wouldn't accept the recode. So, now I don't know what to do, but I want that light off!!! And it is the 'brake pads worn' light http://net.jasonpearce.com/chronicle/audiwarnings.html

This might sound really stupid, but could the back pads not be causing the problem...? Might also need to be changed.

well the new rear pads don't have sensors on them, and i was told that on the car, there are only brake pad sensors on the front brakes, not the rear. but i'm starting to wonder that myself

Yeah, my bad. No sensors on the rears.
When i put the Hawk HP+ on my car a little while back. I just cut the wires and soldered them together. Didn't have any issues after doing that. Check with a meter that it makes a complete circuit when you're done. All i can think of.
