    Neutralizing Wash.

I had a bad caliper that was rubbing metal on metal and it sprayed metal shavings all over the back of my car that have stuck and rusted. Correct me if im wrong because im new to detailing, but a clay bar wont take that off, right?
And i have heard a lot about neutralizing washes, would that help?

Those metal shavings...can you see them? Or you can only see them because they have rusted?? Clay can remove quite a bit...depending on the grade of the clay. Try a mild clay, you can pick it up at PepBoys, Autozone, ect. Clay Magic is a good OTC product...give it a try, it should solve your problem.

Neutralizing washes...im not an expert on, so I cant give you any tips...never exoereiced them.

    Goodluck!

You're probably going to marr the paint if you clay. So if you do that, you should be prepared to polish it. Otherwise I would go with the non abrasive method of a chemical wash first. Least abrasive method first.

I highly doubt that any type of wash can take away rust or metal shavings. The non abrasive method of washing is useless and is only used to take off light dirt not rust. If there are any type of chemical wash strong enough to take off rust it will strip or damage your clear coat anyways. use clay.

i never seen this product before but it would make life easier if it took off containments that clay bars would. i wonder why i never heard of it through any of the professional detailing websites. Do you have any experience with it proving it works?

    Re: Neutralizing Wash.

I have the kit, but havent used it yet. Im planning to test it out on a car that sits outside 24/7. From what Ive read, it takes off A LOT of contaminants that claying removes, plus some. But not quite 100% of them. So claying after might or might not be necessary. Of course every car will be different.

It would be my choice also. I would probably let the alkaline neutralizer dwell the full 15 min. You have to constantly spray it down and do light agitation with a crappy fiber mitt.

FWIW i have done 30+ cars with this system and like it alot. Here is one I worked on a few months back.
