Tail Light Choices - opinions please

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I put some cheap stealth turn signal bulbs in my stock tails and they have melted the inside of the housing to the point where plastic is touching the bulb causing regular bulb failures. So I need some new tails. Don't want LEDs.

my rear (old picture, imagine with tips and debadge). but yes it's canvas beige.

    more pics of my car

    Option 1:

DEPO smoked tails from ebay, about $100. as seen on Ravi's car

    more here

    Option 2:

Replacement OEM stock tails with light tint from jon's tinted tails. probably close to $300 after shipping to Canada

    Option 3:

HELLA tails with a light coat of nite shades. about $125 after shipping and nite shades.

Don't like the silver look but maybe the tint would make it look ok?

    more pics

I'm leaning option 1. option 2 is pricey and even the light tint (pic shown) looks dark. not sure what to think about option 3, can't find any pics of them very lightly tinted

    help!

What about the LED tails from A4 Moda? I think they would look sick on your car. You should be able to find pics around the forum pretty easily.

Edit: In case you're lazy like me, here's 2 on silver (closest to your color). One smoked, one non-smoked.

i dont understand why people pay other people to tint their tails. niteshades is sooo damn easy to use. ive done many sets of tails and only messed up once. and even that was an easy fix. just quickly rub it off with adhesive remover(i used karkraft).

i say either the depo ones, or tint the stock ones yourself!

That's not the case with many members on here. 10000 hours is over a year with your lights on, which should be about 3 years of normal driving time. I've read threads with people changed LEDs after a couple of months.

I vote for stock, Depo if you do go aftermarket.

Re: Tail Light Choices - opinions please

I had the LEDs and they are constantly burning out. Most of the inside ones are a piece of cake to replace, but I have some burned out on the outer 2 columns and they have to be soldered in which sucks. I already did 8 of these! I have already replaced over a dozen LEDs in them and 2-3 more burned out and I'm fed up with that.

I have a set of depos, never used in the box for $75 plus shipping if anyone wants them.

I currently have tinted tails by jon. He did an amazing job, and I did the custom thing with leaving the "white" part of the tails untinted. I went with light/medium tint, but I should have gone with the light tint.
