Where is the best place to tap off of for the light in my boost gauge? I currently have it on the headlight switch but im getting the light on dim whenever the car is on and full light when the headlights are on. Where would you recommend? It is a generic boost gauge with a pos/neg wires.

What are you trying to achieve.. a consistant bright light? If so you can use an add a circuit from an auto parts store and just piggy back switchable 12v source...

Re: Where to tap for gauge light?

Depending on where you are installing the gauge, the best would be one of the lights in the vents. The dial on the left of each vent has its own light, which works on a dimmer, and there is only pos/neg wires coming off of them.

This is where I wired mine, and it works great and with the dimmer. You have a do a little test to see which wire is the pos, I think it is black, and then you are set.

These are the easiest wires to reach without tearing out any dash pieces. The vent just pulls out and the wires are right on the side. This is the best place in my opinion, so I hope this helps.

^^^ that is what I am talking about... an add acircuit allows you to piggy back a fuse in your fuse box for switchable power, this how I powered my gauge... here is a pic where I added the gauge power to my reverse light power fuse so it turns on and off with the car...

Re: Where to tap for gauge light?

**EDIT** I made a mistake, the dials are on the LEFT side of the driver's side vents, and the RIGHT side of the passenger side vents.

Agree with 04b6sport. I tapped the vent lighting wires and the gauge dims nicely with the interior lights
