    Tint... How dark?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, I am pretty new to the Audi scene and I was looking for your opinions on how dark I should go on the tint this weekend. I had 5% on my last vehicle but I am not sure if I want to do that again as it was ridiculous at night. BTW my A4 is black and I plan on powder coating the rims black as well... Thanks!

35%. that's what's on my black a4. it looks good. i've never liked really dark tint because its hard to see at night and honestly looks pretty ghetto. of course if you're doing black rims and tint on a black car, maybe that's the look you're going for.

    Re: Tint... How dark?

Anyone have pics of their 35% and above tints? I need to get mine done (I live in Florida) and wanted something in that range. I was thinking of going even higher, like in the 40's. I have a Cabriolet and whenever my top is down, my windows are up, and I think that having too dark of windows will look pretty ghetto with the top down. Also, how does the tint affect ya'lls radar detectors?! I heard that metallic tints, which insulate from external heat better, can interfere with radar detectors.

I heard they don't care so much about tint in Florida, so I'd go 20% or lower. And +1 on the windshield. I had the windshield on my last car tinted and it was tits.

    Re: Tint... How dark?

i went 15% all around and its fine at night i have to open a window to back up but out the sides with the HIDS its like normal, if you have 5% and you want to go higher go 15 and see that its about right. if you go to light youll change.

Yeah I was never stopped/asked about my 5% on my truck. After the pictures of 35% on that regal I may have to go closer to 15-20... I think that is way too light. I appreciate the ideas guys, great advice!

    Re: Tint... How dark?

Those 35%s look awesome. I might go a little higher though. It isn't the cops I'm worried about, it's the darkness at night and the fact that I think it'll look weird to have really dark tints when I'm riding with my top down and windows up. Besides, the hot girls pulling up next to me need to have an easier time looking at my handsome face. ;)

BTW, what are some good brands for tints? I would like something that won't turn purple. I heard metallic tints are better than dye tints as well. How so?

i have 5% all around on a black car with stock wheels (s4), it doesnt look ghetto, looks like russian mafia rolling by, especially when the car is nice and clean/waxed. anything else is too light. as long as ur stock, 5% looks good.. if u were to put rims and ghetto blackin oout lights and kiddy shit.. then ya the car would look ghetto.

    Re: Tint... How dark?

i have 5%. It's the best looking. But i never really have any problem with visibility, it is a little harder to see out of the rear window at night especially when i back out of my driveway, but i have gotten used to it so it's not been an issue for me.

that sounds really good. I should do the 50% on my windshield. Yeah so do 5% on all windows and then the 50% windshield with the strip. Although 5% on the strip might be too dark just because one random strip of really dark tint on a really light windshield could look wierd. I'd go less for the sun strip. Then it's still functional without standing out really bad.
