    For the Magnaflow muffler crowd...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
How do you like the exhaust? I'm considering doing JUST the 14851 Mufflers.
I suppose it's just cutting the old one off and welding on the new mufflers?

Also, is there a satin version of this muffler/tip combo?

Is there any proven performance gains to this or just better sound?

    Thanks

oh 1.8t well the you might benefit from a full cat back set up... for me i see it as i spend over a grand on the cat back and get maybe 5 hp n a good sound, or i spend 230 shiipped and get the sound.. i have the 3.0 liter by the way

Re: For the Magnaflow muffler crowd...

Agreed. I usually dont cut mufflers and would normally do a full exhaust, but Catbacks average around 1K for the A4 B6 (for some bizarre reason) and about 2 AWHP gain...I think thats just silly.

    All's I want is a decent look/sound.
I'll put the difference of that 1K into other projects :)

Yeah, I've always felt that full catback systems are really neccesary if your car is putting down some serious HP and the motor really needs to breathe. Stage 1+ just isnt enough for me I guess...lol

i love it. i had a custom setup on my old 2002 a4 that sounded good, but was a bit loud imo. now ive got another custom setup on my 2004 and i absolutely love it. quiet at idle/crusing, then sounds nasty as i step on it.

i was actually going to get a video of it today. ill post is up when i do.

as for now, heres my old exhaust on my 2002. http://youtube.com/watch?v=2MvEilhCb1k

there is the video of my new exhaust. unfortionatly, the wind got the best of the cruising part of the video. its a bit louder than it sounds when you get on it, but very quiet at idle/not accelerating. i also put a revving clip at the end. enjoy.

oh and it is turbo back. test pipe, stock downpipe(almost 2.5inches anyway..why replace?), 2.5inch piping split into 2.25inch piping with 2 magnaflow resonators and 2 magnaflow 14827s

not sure what and exost is? lol its exhaust and for a full catback? i doubt it for that cheap unless you buy it from a personal seller used... if you want just the pair of 14851 mufflers then do a search, theres a site that sells em for like 230 shipped

Re: For the Magnaflow muffler crowd...

Take it from me, because I learned the hard way...

Looking for a good sounding exhaust but dont wanna shell out $800+? Ok, dont just replace the mufflers, it will have a different sound but will be way quiet, pretty close to stock. What you have to do is have them cut off the resonator in the center/back end of your exhaust and replace it with regular piping. It is very easy to do for your local meineke, and cost me $120. I did it a couple months after I had my 14851s put on and I was barely satisfied, and then it'll cost you around $150 to get the mufflers themselves on. After I got the resonator off I loved it. I already helped out another AZ member who was in teh same position, and the next day he PMed me and was like hey thanks my exhaust sounds great, im so happy i got the resonator off. So im just sayin you'll love it, but it sounds really close to stock with the resonator on its horrible lol.

Ohh yea as for where to get the mufflers, theres a guy on ebay who takes best offer -$190 shipped for 2. Its the best deal anywhere online. His ebay name is performance peddler.

Re: For the Magnaflow muffler crowd...

Ok look I might be able to help you out my friend... I can get you the Magnaflow 14851 for $133 shipped (133x2=$266 at your door) Also I dont know what engine you have but mine is a 3.0 v6 and I have a buddy that owns the 1.8t that I too hooked up with Mags and both our cars sound sickk... If you want sound, and slim performance gain, this is the best bang for the buck. We both left our center muffler in b/c removing that voids Audi warranty (I dont care, cuz mine is not CPO and doesn't have a warranty, but he cared) anyway... I am coming hom from vacation on sunday, and I will take video of both mine, and his exhaust, post it on YouTube, and link it to this thread so you can hear it!

Sound good? Got any questions, let me know!

I had mine done by a local shop. We cut out the mufflers and resinator. Welded in one duel outlet
magnaflow muffler then ran two pipes out. I love the way it sounds not too loud. I do need to install a downpipe and a high flow cat, but that will be later.
