ARP - The world leader in fastener technology has just released two new Pro Series ARP 2000
M10 head bolt kits for 2000 and later Volkswagen/Audi 1.8L DOHC 20V turbo applications.

Both kits feature an internal wrenching 12 point head which ensures easy installation and removal.

All bolts are Pro Series ARP2000 bolts, cold forged to ensure molecular integrity, heat treated prior to thread rolling and machining, and are nominally rated at 220,000 psi. These ARP2000 fasteners deliver a 40% increase in tensile strength over the OEM Torque to Yield (TTY) bolts.

As a bonus, they are reusable and do not require replacing.

AZ Introductory Price : 205US SHIPPED
+ The Head Bolt Tool : 235US SHIPPED

These high strength head bolts should be considered essential hardware for all BT or stage 1 > engine builds.

Your head is off. Might as well install them. If my engine wasn't together and running right now I'd buy a set. You send those pistons & rings up to me yet?

I might just buy a set then. You can install them with the head on. When I had problems with my head lifting and combustion gas getting into my coolant system, I installed all new oem bolts one by one in the proper sequence and it fixed the problem. This was with only 400 miles on the engine though, now have 2100miles. Issam can you possibly get a set out to me by Thursday or can I pick a set up on my drive down through Cali? I would like these in hand just in case. I already have a head bolt tool. OR maybe you could ship them to Greg's (400HPA4) house by Friday and I can get them there?

    Re: ***AZ Intro - ARP 10mm 1.8T HEAD BOLTS - FINALLY!! ***

I don't know if my head was necessarily "lifting" but there must not have been enough torque or something on the oem bolts which caused the combustion gas to get into my coolant system which in turn would overpressurize the reservior/system and coolant would overflow out of the reservior to the point of empty. It would only really happen at high boost levels. I installed new oem bolts to spec + torque with the head still on the motor and haven't had a problem since. Hopefully the stockers don't stretch again to the point where i get combustion leaking again. I think these arp bolts will help.

Installed them yesterday. They look high in quality. Don't need that extra 90deg turn like the stretch bolts...

Because the ARP high strength bolts are not stretched from the torque applied, they don't have that "spring like" property that the OE stretch bolts have when tightened to the elastic stretch zone.
Therefore, the ARP head bolts must be retorqued occasionally until the torque setting stabilizes, or according to the interval specified by ARP. To check the torque, the engine must be fully cooled off. Then using the bolt tightening sequence, one bolt at a time, crack each bolt in the loosen direction about 30 degrees, then re tighten using a smooth steady pull on the torque wrench up to the torque setting specified by ARP. It's important the torque wrench used is accurate. Recalibrate the torque wrench if the calibration is unknown or after the recommended used tightening cycles.
