    How much should I expect to pay for coverage? (warranty)

    Usually the dealership decides if they want to put the car through the CPO process, which goes through a thorough inspection process that takes a few days. I don't think you, as a consumer, can request that a car be certified... The extended warranty is a different situation altogether... If you have a choice, buy the CPO car...

    Depends on the car and its mileage. I was looking at a CPO the other weekend, 05 a4 a.8t Q 6spd with 40K, and they wanted $2,400 for the CPO Coverage

    When I was shopping for my CPO, one dealer did the same thing - 'you can buy the CPO certification for $2k+'. Personally, that's total crap. If they find something seriously wrong, or not up to standards, they are still going to sell the car. The car either checks out or not. A lemon with a warranty just gets you some of the repairs paid for, not the time and headache of not having a car or being stranded. Go with a reputable dealer.
