Slotted/Cross drilled Rotor Wear/Pad replacement Question

I got the ECS slotted/cross drilled rotors about 30-35k miles ago.. pads started sqeaking the other night so i know im getting on due for new ones... i also know that since slotted/cross drilled rotors cant be turned. So can i just throw on some new pads ( have hawk ceramics but hate their lack of grab, i either want to try hawk HPS or carbotech bobcats) or do i need to get new rotors so the pads have a fresh surface to break in to? (if thats the case ill probably just get some slotted only rotors from Adam...

lastly any advice between HPS and carbotech bobcats?

Re: Slotted/Cross drilled Rotor Wear/Pad replacement Question

A common mistake people make with rotors is that they think they are warped when they are not. Most of the problems are actually associated with uneven pad deposits. I bought some hawk blue race pads and installed them last week to clean the rotors. They are so abrasive when cold that 10 brake periods from 60-30mph (while giving the pad some time to cool between brakes) will completely remove uneven pad deposits from your prior pads. This gets rid of the "warping" feeling and most associated squeaks. Do not leave them on any longer than needed though as they will eat your rotors in no time.

I like ferodo 2500 pads over the HPS, green stuffs, carbotechs, axxis ultimates

Put some disc brake quiet stuff on the back of the pads upon installation to minimize brake squeal.

We run Hawk HPS on my Wife's GTI 337 with Brembo rotors, the pads are incredible, not to much dust, no noise and have lasted over 40K miles with no sign of wear, this car also sees at least on road racing track event per year.
