    question about running different tires??

so on a trip to portland this weekend i blew out my drivers side rear tire and it was unreapairable. nobody anywhere had four 19 inch tires in stock so i just bought one which has the same sidewall as my existing tires but its a different brand.. i have general exclaims for the existing three and i bought a toyo proxes tr1 to replace the blown one. it is the same rolling diameter as the others (235/35/19) but to me it looks like it has a little beefier sidewall. the generals are getting old anyways so im gonna order three more toyos to match today, but i was just wanting to make sure it was safe to run it like it is until they get here. i dont want to fry the transfer case or tranny or fuck up the quattro, so just looking for some input. how long is it ok to run like this without doing any damage? and will it even do any damage? thanks in advance.

when you say beefier, you mean a stiffer sidewall or just appears larger? You could always inflate the other 3 a little more, while deflating the toyo a little bit...

As for damage, if it's the same rolling diam, I can't see how it would ruin your AWD if you're driving around a few days like that. I know for a fact the loaner car I have today has a different spare in the trunk! Then again, I'm no Quattro expert :)

I have heard as long as they are the same size, youre good. I have seen guys on here with wider in the rear and smaller in the front.

You're definitely fine if it is the same size, ton of people running staggered setups on Quattro without a problem
