    HID Replacement!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
so waaay back in the day, one of my ballasts went in my headlights.. luckily i had the ballasts and everything left over from my fog HID's, so i just used those. Since then, my headlights have not been as bright as before, and i couldnt figure it out. But just the other day, i looked at the ballasts, and they were 35w! not the 55w i was using prior.

So, im getting rid of these, and i want to pick up a complete new 55w HID kit. I have been looking around alot, but there are so many options, with all kinds of price ranges. which kit would you recommend?

Yes. That shouldn't worry you too much, it's a super simple thing to do. 3 bolts (if you took the time to put that 3rd one in that's hard to reach, and disconnect one plug.

Side note. I like the retrosolutions kit as well... He's a fellow CT'er and spoke to him on the phone really nice guy. I have seen the DDM as well, I'll probably go with Retro kit, as I've heard some people had some issues with DDM.

    Re: HID Replacement!

^^ you don't need a torque wrench for the job... You need torx bits, and a rachet. You can get a huge kit at home depot for really cheap. They are good to have with this car anyways :)

    haha .

I think the purple-ish light hints that they are going out... I know that they eventually turn some color when they are making their exit.

    Re: HID Replacement!

it's normal if they're dying.. Right before my stock headlight took a crap, it would start out normal when turned on, then turn a legit deep purple color..
It's SO easy to take out the ehadlights and do this mod. just need an extension (10 inches is long enough) and a t30 torx bit. I have the DDM 55w kit as well and I love it

You can use an extension with a socket, I think its a 12mm? It is an open hole, I just shined a light in from the inside. Then on the inner part of the headlights there are tabs, be careful not to break them.

    Re: HID Replacement!

ok so my balast went out on my stock headlights and I am thinking about picking up the retrosolutions kit. should I get 5000k or 6000k and would I need to buy anything else to use these besides the torx wrench bits to take out the screws?
