My TCM is going out. Getting the flashing gears more and more commonly now. I understand the part is over $1300 dollars from dealer before install. Does anyone here have experience with other alternative options other then the dealer $1300 dollar option?

Looking for a less expensive route to replace the Transmission Control Module other then the dealer $1300 option.

make sure you specify CVT and not just automatic.

I have the same problem, PRNDS light is flashing more and more frequently. When I start to drive the car doesn't always take off smoothly and just yesterday I went into an artificial "neutral" and wouldn't deliver power to the wheels until I had slowed down. I checked out this site too ECU Testing Ltd. Looks like an affordable alternative if you can wait to have the TCU rebuilt.

If your CVT is will cost about $1700 to get it replaced at the dealer. You cant buy used cause no scrap yard is going to ruin a good tranny, busting it open, to get the TCM out to sell it. Good luck...just bite the bullet and take it to the dealer!

Trade it in on a MT car before the CVT takes a dump on you. I'm only partially joking... I haven't heard a single good thing about CVT. It's all been nothing but horror stories.

Edit: I fell prey to the necro'd thread again...
