Replace my Fuel Pump, have 2 questions.

Well my fuel pump is dead and I have the new coming.

I looked at my Bentley manual and it seems pretty straight forward except it mentions I need a special tool.

The T10202 wrench. Where can I get this? I'm assuming the dealership and how much is gunna cost me?

Also it says that it shouldn't be replaced with more then a 1/4 tank of gas in the car and I just filled it up, literally the day before it died so I have a very full tank.

Should I siphon it out? I can just put the gas in my gf's 1.8t Jetta but how do I siphon gas out? Do they make a hose & pump kit for this?

Its not necessary that you have a 1/4 tank of has, I changed mine on full. The only issue was that my hands were submerged in gasoline. I didnt want to waste the time siphoning it out but thats up to you.

I called the dealership to ask about the tool, they only gave me the name of the company they order from and told me to try eBay because they dont sell the tool, they only use it. Its possible to do it without the tool, several have as well as myself, you just have to improvise. The top clamp comes of with a well placed screw driver and hammer, and the pump just needs to be gripped correctly and turned, could be done with some cursing and creativity.

To sum it up, tool is helpful but not required.

How about the 3307 wrench? You can get away without using either?

Is the tool necessary? I'm just so broke right now I had to borrow money for the parts.

I'm really beginning to hate this car and wish I just bought a cheap Honda.

I was told one could park the car on a hill to move the gas to the back of the tank so you won't be working in to much fuel, but I don't think it would matter with a full tank. +1 on not needing the tool. BTW if you had a fwd it is very easy cause of the different location of the gas tank.

    I have a Quatto though.

According to the manual for the you don't need the 3307 for the FWD model just for the Quattro so who has experience with changing the fuel pump in a QUATTRO without any of the specialty tools?

i did mine without the tool and a full gas tank as well... just keep plenty of rags and something like windex to wipe off the gas... its just a beyotch job cause you are up to your elbows in gas trying to figure out how the damn thing snaps in/out...

    whats that tool do anyway?

Well the T10202 releases the ring around the pump I believe and the 3307 releases the pump I think.

My manual is in my laptop which I don't have with me right now.
