I currently have an a4 1.8T and looking at this s4 (replacing soccer mom van in family)
    It's a MTM Black on Black 2000 2.7T quattro
    90K miles
    $12,777

Complete wide body kit, wheels, it says MTM on exhaust and has MTM badge, is it really? Please tell me what's on this thing (what kit, what wheels, exhaust) I'm new to s4 so any help would be great////

Re: Looking at MTM S4. Please help me decide!!!

pass, its an auto, you want a six speed :)

and if you cant drive a 6speed, learn. You'll thank me later.

I think a stock s4 looks better than that one.

Check the audizine classifieds, and audiworld classifieds, there are some great cars on there which have been enthusiast maintained for a good deal.

Before you fall in love with anything, do your research.

Re: Looking at MTM S4. Please help me decide!!!

It probably just has an MTM cat-back or maybe a chip too. I'm pretty sure you can get those badges from MTM like you can from APR or anyone else. A real MTM car wouldn't likely be on this side of the pond or have that bad of a body kit. Sorry, but the front bumper is horrific... The inside is also pretty ragged out and it's a tip (unless that's what you REALLY want). The fact that it's also being sold at a Chevrolet dealership for that cheap, tells you they might be trying to unload it quickly. If you're really set on it, I'd have it looked over thouroghly by an Audi cert. tech. Chances are some kid had it and beat the snot out of it and now it's a money pit he can't afford!

IMO, the most valuable thing on it is those RS4 rims...

well, the parents are buying so its not THAT big of a deal...
I know I've looked online. But my parents won't get a nice s4 from on forums or "actual modded ones" because they're super old school.
It's this one, or the BMW 325i we also looked at. The 325 is red and stick (2002) but I don't know price OR mileage. Going in tommorow morning to find out. Will get back....

x3 that. If I had rushed I'd be in an A4 or a 1998 BMW 5 series. Uberfail. HOLD OUT for the car YOU WANT!

Re: Looking at MTM S4. Please help me decide!!!

Yeah, seriously...Don't rush. I rushed when I bought my s4, and I've had to fork out loads of money just on maintenance. I could've been full on stage 3 by now for all the money I've spent on stupid maintenance. That and I paid a lot more than the car was worth. Hold out for the perfect one.

Oh, and I think that s4 looks like doo. The body kit is not tastefully done at all, and the mesh looks like crap.

you make as much sense as that body kit does. "My parent's wont get a nice s4 from the forums or 'actual modded ones' because they're super old school."

Riiiight.. you're parents are super old school, but they don't want to buy a used car from an enthusaist (forum member) who worships their car. Nor do they want an 'actual modified one' but the ghetto wide-body S4 with MTM badges is in contention.

Sometimes you get a bad feeling in your stomach about a car and I get one about that one when looking at it. Not only does it look hideous but it's at a GM dealer for some reason.

I will echo what previous posters are saying: Be patient and take your time looking around for the perfect car. I spent 2-3 months looking for mine and it's been smooth sailing since. Pick the wrong S4 and you're gonna have a bad time.

Re: Looking at MTM S4. Please help me decide!!!

went to go check it out today. What a piece of sHIT! Needed ALOT of work. Was nice with the MTM though lol. THat and the RS4 wheels is the only thing this car had. We went down the street to look at a stock s4 same year color about same miles but it was manual 6 speed. Was REAL nice. My mom was stuck on this 325i because its RED. She's a woman so what can i say....We shall see in the future.
I'm in NO RUSH whatsoever. People keep saying take your time. I wasn't rushing to hurry the deal or anything. I just saw it and thought it was worth getting a free test drive in.
Don't worry. My family has plenty of experience with buying cars and waiting for the best deals....We know when to lay it down.

ALso, mikeyvuitton, I will show them ur MTM and see what they think. My dad will probablky say what the hell do you need all the stuff on it for? I'll let you know

Time to slap some sense into your parents. "Actual modded ones?" Then wth is that gargoyle of an S4 that you linked us haha.

    What is your budget?
    Get 6speed.
2001.5 years plus (new badging is how you tell, badge on cluster is on left and not on right)
Tell your parents that forum cars are generally far better maintained and the deals are better, not to mention that you get feedback from other members on a particular car for sale.

    Also very IMPORTANT:

Do your research on these cars, they require a lot of attention when it comes to maintenance, you may be better off with a younger 5 speed 1.8t.

Maintenance cost of a 2.7t is pretty much 2x the maintenance cost of a 1.8t, you can easily bring a 1.8t to the performance level with the money you'll save on an S4. Don't get me wrong, the B5 S4 is one of the greats, but for people with deep pockets, patience, and not minding the downtime.

And for the love of god don't go with a 325i, slower than a stock 1.8t, and far far more problematic than a 330i.

Re: Looking at MTM S4. Please help me decide!!!

we went with the 325i. Will put pics up later with all details. Very clean car. 5 speed manual. Hey Mikey, if you're not in a rush to sell... PLEASE hang on to it! I'm going to try and work my a$$ off and if you can hold it ~1 year. I know its a while, but that's a lot of $$$ you're asking. I'm not 18 yet anyway (will be in December).

But if you can hold on that long...I will definitely give you a more serious offer at that time.
