yes around 4.5 quarts. I ususally have to use ~4.2 quarts...

Riddle me this. Where on the dipstick do you consider 'full'? (and you can fuck the owner's manual)

1) in the middle of the cross-hatch?

2) to the right of the cross-hatch?

3) so the entire 'notch' is full?

4.5 quarts puts me at option 3 which what I've been doing. Last oil change I started asking myself which mark on the dipstick is correct for "full".

Because the owner's manual doesn't say where on the dipstick to look. And I don't have an owner's manual. My car never came with one.

I go by what the dipstick says. Not by what someone told me to fill it up to.

I have discussed this with buddies of mine and I believe the true full level on the dipstick is the top edge of the dotted line bar not the edge of the notch.

Of course, the top of the notched part on the dipstick is the full... Anything in that range is "OK" if it falls below you have a problem, if it's above you;ll ruin your cat

That is what I was thinking. Top of the dotted line (cross-hatch) with the bottom being 1quart low. That means 4.5 quarts is too much for my car. I'll be more precise when I switch over to synthetic this weekend.

I got away with using 4.2 quarts last time...

Appx 4 1/4 quarts works for me. Puts me at the top of the notch on the dipstick.
