i told my haters from my other thread i would take a video of me launching... well of course is started raining but i thought what the hell, i still do it...

so here it is... mods are as follows

APR 1+
Jet Jockey TIP
Neuspeed exhaust and test pipe
Racetec FMIC
Southbend FE SS clutch (for the launch)
STaSIS 4:1 modded Center Differential (helps for the last video )

thanks, i dont know about doing it without the diff, i doubt it... most everyone with doughnut vids has the stasis diff or did their own... i was actually getting some torque steer before i put it on...... why dont u try and let us know

love it much thanks to nick@autobahnexotics for talking me into it... it felt very hard to push the first day but within 24 hours i was used to it. however the engagement took a few more days its very grabby... but obviously it holds very well... dont doubt yourself, my 115 lb wife learned to drive with it without too much trouble (very little stickshift experience (and no jokes please))

yeah the stasis diff is especially good on rainy days when you have to make a U turn, the quattro makes you look like a pro! it pulls out so beautiful, you can kind of see how easily it corrects when i was coming out of the doughnut, if i had room, i could have stayed on the gas and it would stay sideways pretty as you please and finally come straight

thats the beauty of quattro, as your rears slip, the total power sent to them is reduced... hook up and go baby!

it does, like anything else, the APR 1+ flash needs supporting mods, although u will be amazed how much power can be had from a simple flash

Only problem is that your fronts are actually spinning more then your rears during a launch because of weight transfer, so there is no way the quattro is transfering power to the fronts during that launch. If anything the ABS is being applied to slow them down or ESP kicked in to reduce throttle unless you had it turned off.


BTW launching at 6k is actually on the wrong side of the power band for your stage 1+.

Well you might need to launch at 6k because of the way you are launching. It sounds like you just press the throttle enough to get the rpm's up to 6k(NA way of launching), then release the clutch while holding the rpms and then going WOT. If you bounce the rpms 4-5 times, go WOT and then release the clutch at 5k rpms it should just take off since you will be making more boost at that point.


There are many reasons the car gets sideways when launching. The ABS system applies the brakes to the wheel that is spinning more then the others, the front/rear diffs tend to only apply power to one side more then the other and when this happens at the rear of the car it will pitch to one side (usually to the right) which is why I have come to always stage the car toward the left side of the lane I am racing in.

There is always going to be weight transfer and when this happens the fronts are going to lift up till the car settles back down, during that time they will still try to pull the car straight forward.


Plenty of us that have been drag racing and launching quattro cars have been able to do dry launching to warm up the tires before launching hard. I have been doing it for almost 8 years now.

Here is a video of me launching my B5 which also still has all of the stock diff's and the ABS is unplugged. In the 3rd run the rear tires break loose and steps out to the right, sorry its a bit dark during that run.


BTW Jason from JHM has video of him pretty much just spinning all 4 tires all the way thru 1st gear.
