What's up with my tach? Video..

My tach bobs up about 200 rpm while i'm cruising around 45-60 sometimes. wtf?

Do you have Vagcom? You need the see if it's the ECU sending a bad signal or if it's the tach itself. Check for codes also.

Maybe it is because you are driving around with a door, hood or trunk open.

drtybrd: I had Shawn Vag-Com my car at his shop in Sarasota. The only code had to do with ABS; I had a brake something-or-other sensor replaced at Suncoast Audi in Sarasota twice before I was out of warranty. The last was at about 499XX miles, I am now pushing 60k.

400hpa4: It's my gas cap that is causing that indicator you see in the center of the dash. I accidentally broke it and replaced it with a universal advanced auto parts gas cap until I buy an OEM cap.

Think either of these could tie into this?

So aside from this, I have a little bit of stuttering/bucking when accelerating from low speeds and stops. But only sometimes. It seems like when the car is cold, it doesn't do it. After it's been warmed up and driven for some time, it does, but not every time I accelerate.

Do you guys think I need new plugs or even have a coilpack on its way out?

I've also read some things about something called a forward clutch pack. At $1500, I hope to god it isn't that. My car has 61k on it and doesn't get AutoX'ed or anything, so I'd be pissed as hell if my tranny was eating itself.

I have the same problem, bit only when the car is cold. My guess would be a coilpack going out.

LOL a cvt is a cvt. CVT 6-Speed = Standard CVT with simulation of 6 gear changes. Some users like the feel of the car shifting, but it's really just a CVT

I knew you were being a smartass by saying that, referring to the fact that a continuously variable transmission can theoretically have an infinite number of different gear ratios, not just 6, or 5, or whatever manufacturers advertise them as being.

I was just kidding lighten up buddy. I wasn't trying to waste anyones time or being a smartass but anyway I didn't realize that audi even named it a cvt 6speed until I googled it. I thought you made a typo and later realized that infact there is one but oh well I guess you told me huh?

i had that problem with my 3.2 tl..i know its not an audi but had the same problem and it end up being the tach sensor..im not sure if it help cuz of different make of car, good luck!!!
