    Imitation MAF

    Hi there,

...my first post, I am mostly a reader and frequently read this forum. For a couple of years I would have codes for a lean or rich mixture, all intermittent and they would come and go irreguarly. Car ran fine, untill a couple off weeks ago. Suddenly I got a lambdasensor fault, no lean or rich codes. Since I had been reading this forum I knew I had to replace the MAF (allready did the plugs and used injector cleaner).

So what did I do (against the advise from numerous posters) I bought a replica MAF. Long story short, it didn't work. Bought another one from the dealer (original Bosch) worked fine, no more problems.

Lesson learned (again), don't buy imitation if you are going to replace your MAF.

Paid about €50 for the imitation, paid about €100 at the dealer and had to return my old MAF.

Hope it's of use to anyone reading this, car by the way is a 2000 1.8 5V avant, Santorini Blue with 118,000km.

    regards,

Hitachi is also good to go with. Either that or OEM Bosch
