ok so i have to vent about this one. I found an 02 silver 1.8tqm premium w/ black interior, 47k miles, clean title, clean carfax, everything is perfect for $10,300! I emailed him back 2 hours after his post last night, i was the first person to respond. I got his number in an email at about 7 am and tried to call him at 8 am because he told me to call. It was the WRONG NUMBER!! so i emailed him back right away and he didn't get back to me until about 12 today with the right number. But i was at work so i couldn't call. So i called at 2 pm today and asked if we could meet so i could look at the car and he tells me he got a call with a cash offer for tomorrow afternoon so of course i said i'll come look tonight and i can guarantee you your asking price. And the guy says "no i already told the other guy he could come look at it tomorrow and buy it if he wants. I gave him my word and i don't want to go back on my word, but if he doesn't buy it i'll call you and let you know because you're next in line". First of all i would have been sooner but the dipshit gave me the wrong number, 2nd of all it's first come first serve, not reserve the car because you gave them your word. I hate retarded people. Now i'm 99.9% positive that this ****** is gonna sell his car tomorrow and i'll be out of the car stuck looking for another 6 months through all the overpriced ads on craigslist!!!!!

hahaha wouldn't that be nice? He just told me he sold it. Son of a bitch. I was thinking about calling up the seller and trying to get the buyer's number and offering him more than he paid. But i don't think he would do it. See the other problem is i'm going to be leaving to college and the car i drive now is actually my dad's but while i'm here he just lets me have it as my own to do whatever mods i want and everything. But he needs it for work when i leave and i'm gonna be leaving like mid august. So you can see the frustration there cause i doubt i'll find another good deal like that in 3 weeks. well no the thing is i have the cash for a more expensive one i've just been trying to hold off to find the best deal possible so i have money left over. Cause i mean i can go all the way up to like 17k if i want to but i would rather not pay top dollar if i don't have to. Cause i mean i could put some serious mods on for that remaining 7k. I've been saving and working hella for a while now to make that much. I mean that's like every bit of money i have, i've been selling smaller things on criagslist, i've been keeping all my money from holidays working like 82 and 83 hours every 2 weeks tryin to save up

^I disagree. Whenever I sell parts, I have people PROMISE me that they want them, then end up backing out. The other guy I told that it was sold has since then gotten the part from someone else. If your asking price is reasonable it should always be first come first serve.

that's what i'm saying. And why should he care who he sells it to? It should be whoever comes up with the cash first gets it. What reason does he have to hold it and cut out everyone for some guy he doesn't know and will never see again? You've got the right idea, and that's how 100% of the people i've ever dealt with buying anything have been. cars tend to get ruined while off at school. my previous tl was keyed to the max, broken into, and was a qualifying candidate for a hit & run. i'd say you're better off without a nice car at an apartment parking lot. just a thought..

I'll actually probably end up with a house during college. And surprisingly a fair sized one. But in the area i'll be staying, Bellingham, with a couple other people it should only be a $200-$300 a month rent. I've been looking around and i have a couple friends already doing the same thing who are there now and they only pay about $300 a month each for 4 guys to all live in the same house. I guess house prices are pretty good right now everywhere, but in Bellingham they are considerably cheaper than where i live now.

So i shouldn't have to worry too much about door dings and stuff other than in parking lots, but when don't you have to worry in any parking lot. I'll just be parking hella far out by myself. Something i'm gonna be doing anyway everywhere else. I actually don't know if i'd want an S4 though, sure it's fast, sure it's cool, but i think that a modded 1.8tqm is just so much sicker. And smaller engine so it's more fuel efficient to deal with these gas prices. If i were gonna drop that much on a car i'd just wait until i could really go for the kill and buy an RS4 Although i'd prefer an Evo IX over an S4 as well.

dude don't worry, you shouldn't EVER buy a car under pressure! even with really low miles it's an '02 and you should definitely take the time to have a mechanic check everything over. the suspension or anything in the engine could go bad at any point in time. i won't purchase a used car without a checkup or warranty.

Similar thing happened to me. So, I live in Orlando and found an Amulet Red, 2003 1.8T Cabriolet in Port Saint Lucie, which is about 1.5 hours away. It only had 33,000mi and seemed to be in flawless condition. They were asking $13,999 for the car which based on the images and specs seemed to be an amazing deal. I immediately called the people and they could barely speak any English. Apparently they were a French elder couple. Anyways, the husband wasn't home and they asked me to call them later that night. I did. He told me to call him the next morning to arrange a time and get the directions to his place. I had the cash in hand and everything. I wake up at 7:00AM and called him to learn that he settled with someone else and that person was picking it up later that day. Didn't even make sense to me. I called them all kinds of names and hung up the phone.

I was really pissed for a while as it seemed to be the car of my dreams. However, not long after, I landed a Royal Blue, 3.0L 2003 Cabriolet with only 44,000mi that puts that one to shame. I only paid $14,500 for this one which was definitely worth it.

Oh well yeah i definitely don't want to rush into anything but if i were to look at it and i would have liked it and it ran smooth and everything my best friend's dad is an awesome mechanic so i would have brought him with me. He can pick out anything that's wrong with the car so quick it's unbelievable. I don't know anyone like him. But he also owns all the electronic equipment for reading engine codes and stuff too with plug-ins for every make of car. I mean he has this system on his computer that gives him the wiring and blue print models of like any car you can imagine. It's basically a plans library/database where you can search for almost anything. It's pretty cool but i guess the subscription to it is hella expensive. He's been a mechanic for about 40 years or something now and even as a kid his dad was teaching him how to work on cars so he's been doing this stuff for all his life.

But yeah i'm still searching, hopefully i can find another good deal on something soon. But if not i guess i'm just gonna have to keep on searching and hope something comes along. If anyone reading this thread has any good deals in washington, oregon, or idaho send me a PM.
