B5s are not using bi-xenon. Bi-xenon means that high beam and low beam use the same bulb. Simply order H7 bulb and it will fit your car.

Well yeah, but he doesnt currently have HIDs. So he doesnt just need bulbs, but rather ballasts, bulbs, and wiring. Pretty big difference. And that is JUST for the headlights, he will need two sets of ballasts, bulbs/wiring for both headlights and fogs.

And to answer the initial question, VVME HID (Xenon) kits seem to work well. Several customers that I can think of (AW members) have had issues, but the vast majority have been highly satisfied. Seems like the most frequent problem is sending the wrong temp bulbs (i.e. a 4300k and 5000k together) and then charging a bunch more shipping to resolve the issue (send more bulbs). With an 2001, you already have projector lights that will work pretty well, as good as stock HID projectors or HID Euro-codes? No, but still better output that stock halogen projectors. Can be had for less than 100 bucks I believe.

    Re: Which Xenon lights?

HID H7 (whatever temp you choose) kit in the headlights for low beam and H7 3000K HID in fog lights. There are write ups on the procedures for install. As for which HID kit to get, people go with VVME because of the pricing. But I have a Group Buy going on in the GB section for 55w kits shipped at $150 (35w is cheaper) lifetime warranty on bulbs and ballast for whatever temp you want. You could always find cheaper ones though. I have a write up in there also.

    Write up for low beam
    Write up for fog light

well obviously you get what you pay for. I haven't heard any neagative comments about VVME regarding quality. Only the wrong bulb issue. If you get HID for your low beans, make sure you don't get anything over 6000k or you'll look like some ricer with bright ass blue lights and crap out put in the driver's seat.

I did read that thread before. However, I don't think I can distinguish between 6000k and 8000k in a photo. =P

I have 8000k bulbs in my A4 and are in no way the ricer look.
They aren't ridiculously blue at all, more like white with a blue tint.
I think it's when you start getting into the 10,000k+ bulbs it starts looking trashy

HIDs arent ricer at all. Its the blue headlights that are ricer. As long as you get a quality kit, any temp can be pulled off with class IMO. Porsches have like 10k's stock dont they?

I am afraid that I don't know how to install. It seems that I need to seal the housing.
But for that website, why don't we need to state the car's model and make?

because they're only light bulbs...all you need is to know what kinda bulb your car uses. Install is easy...probably easier than an oil change on our cars :|

    Re: Which Xenon lights?

Bulb are universal regarding the type (shape/size). You need an H7 bulb, so it will work universally for any car that takes an H7 bulb. Install is not difficult at all. I did mine maybe 2-3 weeks ago.

    1. Cut 1" hole in the back of the housing for the low beam. I used a dremel and made ~1". Good enough for me.

2.In the HID kit the bulb will be in a case (do not touch the bulb with your hands/use latex gloves just in case). Place H7 bulb into socket and have the harness travel through the 1" hole (I could not get the clip to fit through, so I cut the wires and just spliced it on the opposite side and sealed it with rubber tubes found at Radio Shack used for wires. You place a lighter to it to seal it)and have the groument fit into the 1" hole.

    3. Use silicone around the groument (maybe $2 tube at Home Depot)

    4. Wire it up and you are done. Plug and play. The wiring is not that difficult. There is only one place each wire has a place to go (red and purple is posotive; brown and black is ground).

    5. Finding a place for the ballasts is maybe the most difficult part

Do we need to cut the OEM harness and connect the wires by ourslves?

    Re: Which Xenon lights?

No. Plug and play. They connect right back to the same spots. You will see as soon as you take out your headlights how the wiring is. The only moderation you will have to make is a 1" hole in the cover for the low beams. Everything is just wring.

yes you do. Park your car as close to a wall as you can, and use some tape or something to mark the levels. then move about 25ft away from the wall and start adjusting

    Re: Which Xenon lights?

The white dials on your headlights. There are 2 of them per headlight.

    Copied from other thread:
The inner adjusters control the up and down... outers adjust the side to side.

Left (driver side) headlight: turn the outer adjuster clockwise to move the beam to the right... counterclockwise to move the beam left (as if you were sitting in the car)
Turn the inner adjuster clockwise to go down... counterclockwise to go up.

Right (passenger side) headlight: turn the outer adjuster clockwise to move the beam left... counterclockwise to move the beam right (as if you were sitting in the car)
Inner adjuster is the same as the driver side headlight.

That means I need to adjust the light to the level when park my car close to the wall?

use some tape or something to mark the levels
That level means the level of the light or something else?

pull your car right up to a wall. use tape to mark an x in the "hotspot" of you lights, you cant miss it. now back up the car about 25 ft and adjust you lights to meet the x. that way you wont blind everyone in front of you. now go for a drive and marvell in the hid experience. you will never want to drive a car without them.
