B5s are not using bi-xenon. Bi-xenon means that high beam and low beam use the same bulb. Simply order H7 bulb and it will fit your car.
Well yeah, but he doesnt currently have HIDs. So he doesnt just need bulbs, but rather ballasts, bulbs, and wiring. Pretty big difference. And that is JUST for the headlights, he will need two sets of ballasts, bulbs/wiring for both headlights and fogs.
And to answer the initial question, VVME HID (Xenon) kits seem to work well. Several customers that I can think of (AW members) have had issues, but the vast majority have been highly satisfied. Seems like the most frequent problem is sending the wrong temp bulbs (i.e. a 4300k and 5000k together) and then charging a bunch more shipping to resolve the issue (send more bulbs). With an 2001, you already have projector lights that will work pretty well, as good as stock HID projectors or HID Euro-codes? No, but still better output that stock halogen projectors. Can be had for less than 100 bucks I believe.
