My intro, upgrades, questions, plus PICS

Hello audiziners! After being a member for a while I decided it's time to make an official thread about my car and a little about me. I haven't posted that much because my car is stock which will change soon. I will keep it short so I dont waste nobody's time. The car is a AWM A4 with 81000 miles on it owned since 50000. I put the body kit right after I got it because that was my hope to own an a4 with that kit. I work as a banker and I am doing all the upgrades by myself having no hands on experience (just watched buddys work on their cars). So, I hope I can get all the help that I can from the experts on here. A week ago I installed a FMIC myself while I took a vacation from work. The FMIC is custom from ebay seller justintercoolers. That was easy enough considering I've never done it. Downside is that I didn't think I'd have to get a new mesh for the bumper and I got a cheap one on such short notice. Also, I thought I won't have to relocate the secondary air injection pump but I was wrong. I just put it in place of the stock air box and now I run a cone filter with a U bend.
Future Plans: I have a GT28RS elim with all supporting mods and a Unitronic chipped software to be installed. I am hoping this will happed during august since I have another vacation time. Again, I will do this myself.
Questions:
1. Has someone relocated their secondary air injection pump to the cold side of the engine where there is more room? I am thinking to run some flex hose from the combi valve to the pump on the cold side.
2. I am really worried about one thing, after driving for about an hour in traffic on two occasions I've noticed my temp gauge is raising above the normal middle and it stayed for a little just before the following line. I'm not sure why its raising temps. I have a custom heatshield from the guy here on audizine that sells it for $90. I don't think that's why. How should I tackle this? Is it the coolant sensor? I hope it is nothing major.

I think I might be able to answer your questions. If you are not using an upgraded turbo inlet pipe nor the stock airbox, you can relocate the SAP to under a cone filter. Thats where I had mine for a while, but since I have a metal TIP now, I just removed the system. I get a CEL but I really dont care about it. As for the temperature, how much does it move? It would make sense if the car was getting hot because no air is being fed in.

Yes you can. You can actually flip the valve around and run the hose to the other side and then just extend the wires to reach it.

This can happen since you do have a fmic and because the stock clutch fan is not going to be moving fast enough to cool down the coolant while driving in traffic for a long time. Replacing it with a electric fan will help since it will run at high speed when ever it comes on even though you are sitting still in traffic. If you dont want to do that you can always wire up your AC fan so it comes on at a set temp

thanks for the kind words. I have an idea about the mesh which will be done during my turbo install. I think it will look bad ass. I will keep posted with PICS

Could always use a temp controller, I use one to turn on both my electric fans and IIRC it was only around $26 from Summit.

edit: Looks great! I like the side skirts too... very nice contour to them, haha, didn't even read your sig. I remember why I loved them, not a fan of most Rieger stuff.. but some pieces look really great to me.

Maybe just a feeler but who want to trade wheels? Sportec mono for what you got. If I like them we got a deal. The wheels just need to be refinished most shops charge $250 for a set.

He has a 1.8 they all came with black window trim. Only 2.8's and S4's came with the chrome trim. Ha

I have a brand new thermostat in and my gauge went over a tad past the middle mark when sitting in traffic for a while on a 100+ degree day. Oil temps were past 225 degrees. I'd call it normal but I really try to avoid high heat traffic with a turbo car.

I like everything on the car except the side skirts as I have never liked the Rieger ones, but I am running the same front and rear bumper as you (although my front one is no more due to the accident). Besides painting the front mesh black the car looks good.

I made my own bracket and relocated my secondary smog pump so that I had a little more room for the FMIC piping, but it is still in the same vicinity so no wires had to be lengthened.
