Picked up a new daily driver...

I picked up a new daily driver. It's a 1998 A4 2.8 Quattro manual. It has a very bent valves and doesn't run very well at all but I picked it up for super cheap. I've pulled tons of 1.8t's so I'm familiar with the B5's. I'll be picking up a donor car with 80k but it's an automatic. Now for the questions:

Any words from the wise on pulling it and re-installing a new motor?

Will an Automatic transmission motor work if I switch over the tranny that's on the car I'm swapping it into?

Anything I should do on the new motor while it's out of the donor car?

    Pic of said car:

    Thanks in advance.

    Not on V6 engines.

Both auto and manual have the recess for the input shaft spigot bearing, unlike the 1,8T, where the auto crank is non-recessed.

Thanks for the responses. Looking forward to doing the swap. I had a ton of donor vehicles lined up but of course when I finally get the car they're nowhere to be found.

Yep it's missing along with two of the front grilles. The car was a little beat up on the outside but the interior is in excellent shape.

Just pull the front end off and you'll have no problems swapping.

I think I'm just going to look for an S4 bumper but I'll definitely let you know. I'll probably start pulling her apart next week but I'll keep the thread updated.
