I cant figure what this noise is. Vaccum is at 20 boost reaches 20...But I get this strange noise while driving. Like a whining noise.

this is 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. Youll hear it on 2nd and 3rd gear. High pitched whining.

Could very much be, also a boost/vac leak. Typically you wouldnt have correct boost/vac though with a leak, typically wont have boost with a blown turbo either though

So if I had a turbo issue, I wouldnt be at full boost is what youre saying? Its been like 25,000KMS since the diverter was installed. Its just a generic billet aluminum one.

Usually no, typically with a boost leak, vac leak, or even a blown DV though, you will not get correct boost or vac

i had that same exact thing happen to me. i brought it to the dealer and the service guy told me my turbo needed to be replaced because that is the noise it makes before it goes out. he told me that i could drive on it for about a month before it completely blew up.

Err im not sure how many clicks you had on the car or how hard you pushed it but are you sure he didnt just milk you for the turbo?

no i wasnt getting milked for the turbo because the car was still under warranty. the car will still make the sound with stock programmaing as well because i had to get my car reflashed back to stock in order for audi to replace the turbo under warranty. hopefully you are still in your warranty!?

from my understanding, the stock clutch can easily hold up to the power that the K04 puts out. at least that is what I am running...

staying out of boost may slow it down a bit... but i'd say you start looking into a turbo. Now.

before you change your turbo, do a compression test and see if you have a vaccum leak somewhere that could be making the noise as well.

Ok, but seriously, mine makes the same noise right when it starts to spool in 1st gear only though, same problem? 115,000 on the car and it still has the original turbo in it..

I checked for shaft play....Theres next to no shaft play. I inspected my DV...lubed it up and it lasted maybe 2 strong pulls and then it went back to the way it was so thats my problem. the diverter isnt holding boost well anymore
