Can Darintake messup something on the tune?

first of all, my car ran fine for the last 5 months.

3 days ago I went to buy some stuff to make darintake and a new stock airfilter.

When I opened the filterbox I saw my car had a K&N dropin filter. it was really dirty so I cleaned it out but it wasn't dry so I made the Darintake like everyone does it and put in a new stock filter.

my car was not faster from this mod, I felt no difference. It even cut boost after hitting 2 pulls against the aston martin wich I clearly felt in 4th gear @ high rpm's. it was 23° outside.

I just got home from our friday night meet, My S let me down. I was doing a pull against the M5 from 4th gear from 90-... when I got to 6000rpm my car had a boostcut ,it lost boost in an instant, my passenger felt it too. so I drove away slow and went back to the parking lot. let it cool down for an our and cut off the batterie for fault codes. went back for a drive and the car felt slow, like 50hp slow, not slow as in dead but deff a whole lot slower then before. checked all the hoses that I could see. looked at the TBB but couldn't see anything.

when I drove back home I tried it out, it makes boost but not as much as before, it's still fairly quick, not like the time it was in limp mode for 3 months...

could this be darintake related or is it just something else???

first thing in the morning I'm gonna VAGcom it at my garage.

it def seems like it has something to do w the mod. also, depending on where/how you put the holes makes a difference.

furthermore, when i did this mod in the middle of the summer, it made the car run worse. so i just used a stock box. but when i brought it out for the colder season, it def made a difference.

clear your codes and try an un-modded box. also log it if you can.

    good luck!

did you take your MAF off your airbox top when you were working? i'm thinking you may possibly have a leak or pinched the rubber o-ring putting it back on... at least the symptoms sound like that's a possibility.

i could see it slightly changing your MAF g's and airflow pattern in front of the MAF sensor, but not significant enough to make your car feel like it has 50hp.

    Just Vagcom'd the car

    2 faultcodes

    1: camshaft sensor clinderrow 1 G40
    2: P1559 I think, I believe that is the limp mode ...?

I've never heard of Darintake causing that much damage to the power of our cars. I think it was just a coincidence that you put it in and something happened to your camshaft sensor. I'm not positive, but I would guess that if the camshaft or sensor is messed up it would mess with the ECU since the camshaft is so critical to the engine running properly.
