    BT question regarding tuning

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I finished my BT install today around noon. I called the local Revo tuner who is only about 15 minutes from my house. I called him at 9am telling him that my car would be done and I'd love to bring it by later in the day so I could have it for the weekend. He then tells me "I can't do it today, it takes a while and I need your ECU code and your hardware list". I asked how am I suppose to obtain my ECU code isn't that what the tuner does?. He said he could but it would prolong the tuning? What is he talking about? He then tells me that he doesn't think that Revo has a file for Genesis 430cc injectors and I told him that I know for a fact that there file supports 430cc injectors. He says let me call them and I'll call you back. He calls me at 3pm, 4 hours later while I am at work. So now I could not get my file installed, I'm out of my car for the weekend and I can't make the Florida German BBQ becuase some lazy tuner doesn't want to take my $699. And I'm not sure I want him doing my car because he was asking about my FPR and what size MAF i'm running. Does this guy sound knowledgeable? One question I have is can I drive my car since it is back together? I'm APR 1+ but now I have 430cc injectors and my GTRS. I haven't started the car but could I drive it if I stay out of boost? If not it is not a big deal.

    Re: BT question regarding tuning

Your tuner is both right and possibly wrong. REVO no longer supplies the software that used 430/440cc injectors. The new file is designed to be utilized with 550cc injectors. Now, it's possible that the new 550cc file may work with your 430cc injectors but you will not be able to run your car to it's max potential with the BT kit.

    Re: BT question regarding tuning

You car should run fine BUT STAY OUT OF BIG BOOST (15PSI+)! If you find yourself having to spool up the turbo, better make sure sure to keep it under 10 PSI and even that maybe pushing it.

When the tuner asks a B6 owner what FPR he's using, it kind of worries me.

Oh and i'd say stay out of boost all together. Maybe 5 psi, but not 10.

    Re: BT question regarding tuning

it takes awhile, the tuner will need to get all the mods you have, your ecu code, ect and then Revo will create the flash if one of the standard ones won't work. I have never heard of running the 430cc EFIs with stage 3, When i talked to my tuner they confirmed with Revo that 550cc EFIs were recommended but they could tweak the flash for 440cc also if necessary.

took about 3 hours but i was told that Revo normally gets the flash to them sooner then that, just a busy day maybe........

Grats on the BT man! GTRS?

yeah, i ran my GTRS with my stage 2 (k04 software and TT225 EFIs) for about a month, not a smart thing to do but i didn't have much of a choice. just don't boost it and you'll be ok.

    Re: BT question regarding tuning

99.9% of the REVo dealers deal with VW and very little
Audi. His questions about the MAF and the FPR are standard for them. He may or may not have ever flashed a GTRS on a Audi, either way you chese to go with your local tuner, so this is what you are stuck with...

Yes, he could pull your ECU code if he had it in his possession but it is much easier to see if you know it, then he can check to see if he has the actual file that you need.

Just send your ECU to REVO direct, this way you get the correct file that you want.

I think that might be the route I go, how are my injectors not compatible when this came from a tuner (A4ringedONE8T) just back in February of this year, first post in the thread-

    Re: BT question regarding tuning

Your injs. will be fine. The ECU will compensate for them. The 550 file is for a 3" MAF but if you stay with the stock one, the 430's will be fine. You can call Revo and speak to Robin or Chris @ 770-271-4726. Overnight it to them and they will do the same back to you. Or drive over and see Shawn @ 1552, I'm pretty sure his shop is open on Sat.

Thanks Chris, I thought about having Shawn do it early on but I work Mon-Sat now and his shop is a good 2.5 hours away. I think I am going to call Revo and chat with them and do the overnight route. That will be the only way I get some peace of mind after doing all of this work and spending a grip.

    Re: BT question regarding tuning

its takes a whole 10 minutes if that to flash the computer. I stood right there when Dave at Eurocode hooked it to his laptop and flashed mine one time. Don't know what this "it takes a while" or 3 hour bullshit is. That place clearly doesn't have a clue. And also there are probably 200 cars with 440cc or 430cc injectors and about 5 with 550cc injectors, so that is interesting that the file doesnt work for the smaller ones

The 430 file is still in the RVO database, the old file didnt just disappear ...

PM me your phone number, I might be in Orlando tomorrow, if so Ill come to you and flash it And it takes usually 10-15min to flash a B6 since it requires a lower baud rate flash. Other Audi's and VW's take 5 minutes

maybe because it's a tiptronic? we were waiting on revo to send a custom file i was right there and heard the whole phone conversation. and like someone mentioned earlier about revo shops being mostly VW, they were a vw shop so the audi was different from what they normally do i guess.

Hey Jimmy they flashed my car, took about 20 mins I think. i was the first Audi that they flashed. They know VW's very well, not too much about Audi though.

They had the same requirements from me. Something about all REVO dealers have to call REVO before they can give out the BT File.

i had the same problems (and more) with my local revo guy... in the end it's what pushed me over the edge to go with unitronic. mike z just asked which injectors, what car, and whether or not i wanted to keep my MAF - i got back a perfectly running, idling, boosting, and fast(er) car. (until it blew up LOL)

i second the notion that he's probably not used to audis, so i wouldn't put down his ability to deal with your car - everyone needs time to learn new things... but i also understand wanting your car to be up and running ASAP.

if shawn can get out there and flash it for you i'd be more than happy with that if i were you. personally I think the revo software is great (reliable, makes good power, very user friendly).

and speaking from experience - man are you gonna flip shit the first time you go out and drive that car hahaha.

hmm. thats odd, i sent my ECU to ecode, they made their file work with my GTRS + stock maf + 430cc genesis.. and my car is euro, so i had to send them MON\RON values of the gazoline in norway, and they managed to make me sweet file. Car both runs and idle like a charm.
