    Fluttering/ticking noise when driving...

I got my car back from RAI and I'm hearing all sorts of nasty sounds from the bottom of the car. I got my turbo-back exhaust in and I'm hearing massive heat shield rattle (I think) when I'm in the lower RPM range.

Also, when I'm cruising, I hear a noise similar to a playing card hitting the spokes of a spinning bicycle. When I step on the gas just a little bit, the sounds seems to go away, or at least get much quieter. Anybody got any ideas as to what may be causing these sounds?

I had a similar situation when I got my ssac turbo back installed about a month ago. I had that same exact noise you did around 1-2k rpm and then it went away. It ended up being an exhaust leak from one of the joints coming loose under throttle. I took it back and they found the problem pretty easily and welded it together. Cheap fix, only cost me $25 and now it sounds amazing.

Crawl under the car and check for a label or other piece of paper of plastic on the axle or other moving part which could be causing the flapping noise.

wait for a cold start (like overnight) and start up the car, if it is a leak at a joint in the exhaust, you will hear a sputtering and see moisture coming from the leaking area. it will sound strange and can sound mechanical. but under the car while it warms up is the best way to locate an issue.

    good luck!

I thought I was the only person who had this happen to...

...would this also cause my O2 sensor to go funky as well, a leak with the exhaust system?

It depends on where in the system the leak is, but yes, it could.

not sure if the sound your talking about is that distinct as what you described but if its on a much quieter version check your cv joint boots for tears. i had a similiar noise, much more faint than that but it did exactly as you are describing.
