Need HELP Quick Please!

Hi Guys,

I just got this 2001 Audi A4 1.8T with 146000KM Yesterday. I went to go do emissions and the car is giving soooo much smoke from the exhaust. I dont know what to do, I just parked it and the check engine light came on. I am going to go see what it is, but please if you can. Please Help me! BTW the smoke is white..

Well the obvious thought is that the white smoke is caused by coolant/water being burned by means of a coolant leak, most likely a headgasket. With only 146k km (90k miles ish?) on a 2001 I wouldn't suspect the headgasket to have blown. You can do a compression test to check if the headgasket is the culprit:

Also check your oil to see if there is any signs of coolant.

Give some more information. Does it only give white smoke when it starts? That would be pretty normal. When you drive away from a stop is there a plume of white smoke behind you?

What are the numbers for HC, CO?
