    Cluster questions -I've searched!

    Hi,

I have a 97 cluster with dummy lights in my car now.

I have another 97 A4 - smashed that has a cluster in it which has the information screen. Can i swap the cluster into my car?

Will the screen work? Or will only certain parts of it work?

    Anyone do this or know?

    Thanks

Not sure if if will work, someone will likely chime in on compatibility.

Definitely will need to adapt the cluster to your specific car, ie ensuring that all of the codes for engine, language, kilometers (can only move forward), etc. are the same.

Sad thing is that the display will probably have bad pixels in any case. Most do which are that old. Oddly enough my 96 works perfectly, and my 98 display is shot. Go figure. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Someone asked this question before. The harness for the one w/ display and w/o display is different. You need to replace the whole harness in order for the display to work.

if you have early 96 97 Audi you can't install cluster from 98+ cars different plugs, and compatibility problems, tried that already
if you look at your cluster analog clock and if there no numbers at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock just lines then unfortunetly there is no easy solution either new cluster or used

If both cars he has are 97's then how did one of them get a (presumably working) cluster with an LCD?

If both clusters are 97 if you install 97 cluster with LCD into 97 that didn't come with center lcd it will work, just need to buy wiper arm to switch menus on lcd
