    Shudder in 5th gear

I ran in stage 1 for the first time today. (Love it) Now after doing some searching and reading, particularly these two threads, and some others,

I noticed my problem is slightly different. I am not getting the shudder in low rpm/high trq ranges. I am getting it at 3400 and 70 mph in 5th gear. Anyone know if this is related or do I have another problem I have to find? Do mind you it happens when I give it gas it stops once I let off.

    Thanks in advance.

I don't think it's related to those two threads.

Have you changed you spark plugs lately? I had the same thing after going to Stage 1, and once I swapped to new plugs with a 0.028" gap it was gone.

    Re: Shudder in 5th gear

It seemed to go away. I did a couple tests today on the way to work, with 5th gear pulls from 65 up to 80 and there was no shudder. Not sure if that is a good thing or not but seems to be good now. I will change my plugs just to make sure.

Downshift instead of trying to accelerate in a high gear. What is happening is the driveshaft is vibrating due to the high tq./low rpm.

I would replace plugs with NGK #PFR7B, I had tons of misfires on stock plugs, coppers, you name it, not one problem with these for 10k now.

The engine should do fine in 5th at 3400 if he was saying 2000 would tell him to downshift and i think you should double check this driveshaft vibration thing

What is most likely happening is that in the 3400 range in a high gear (high load) the boost is peaking high, and you either old or poorly gapped spark plugs cannot keep up.

I don't think it's completely absurd. That situation is probably one of the hardest on the engine and given that it's a 4 cyl I wouldn't rule it out

check for codes with vagcom. if you have a miss fire then switch your coil packs around and see if it stays in the same cylinder, if it dose these the fix.
