Calling all 3in exhaust member

I have 2 local shops around me and but tell my 3in will not fit. i saw one that they did and it hung down so low that the top was barley in the tunnel. Can any of you take pics so i can show them how to run it to get the best bends and up high enough. Thanks everyone.

You really want someone working on your car that you know does piss poor work? Take your money somewhere else and get the job done right.

EDIT: Saw that you are in PA, where exactly in PA are you? If you are in the Philly/Allentown/Qtown area I can recommend you some quality shops that will have no problem putting together a quality 3" setup for you.

tell them that the a4 and s4 have the same tunnels and most s4 aftermarket exhaust are 3". i wouldn't go to a shop that gives retarded advice..
i don't have any pics for you, but, I run a 3" downpipe to a 3" straight pipe, maded to the rear half of an s4 neuspeed 3" exhaust. sounds AND fits perfectly.

3in fits just fine and sounds good too. :Basic advice: make sure the metals are similar ya know stainless to stainless...etc.

I currently have a b4 A4 and i have a 3" exhaust, seems to fit fine considering its been on the car for awhile now.

seank- you were about to suggest R/T tuning and ground level customs weren't ya??.... great shops, (if you don't mind driving a little bit to get to R/T, rt's a genius) and bernb5 is exactly right, get to a decent performance shop, they won't even look twice, especially if they have worked on any s4/a4

Nothing Leaves Stock in Coopersburgh Pa did my 3", Dietbudda's and a few other A4's with 3". Actually Dietbudda has 4" in there as well. http://www.nothingleavesstock.com

i know a truck shop that would build your exhaust. anyone know where to get a really quiet muffler for a 3"? I need to add another to tone down the exhaust before i put it on my avant

No, I was not I have never heard of either of those shops. I was going to suggest Nothing Leaves Stock(already mentioned), Just Rite Muffler, and PSI Motorsports.

i have a full vibrant stainles custom 3in exhaust on my car. i used there 4in id 9in long race muffler............its real loud. i think i may install another muffler in line to quiet it down a bit.

All you little whinny bishes needing mufflers make Baby Jesus Cry!...,LOL suck it up and run 3" straight with 1 resenator at most;) My car is quiet as hell, no seriously it's so quiet I can't hear a thing but my open dump and BOV, nothing but waaaaaaaaah droan at cruise. Quiet and silence is overated if you want some of that I suggest a trip to Fiji:)

My ricecar exhaust does that too.

I don't have a 3" DP. Only 3" DP back. It fits pretty decent. A little low under the rear diff mount ... hung up on the alignment rack at school a bit.

Here is a funky pic of my 3 inches.. haha, wait, that sounds horrible... 3" stainless TB with Borla at the end, twin 3" pipes out, sounds deep and rumbly. Turns heads from a block away and sounds like all hell is breaking loose when I get on it.

that setup is WAY too low for dustins car and the streets we have here.. it would be about a 2" exhaust in the matter of days.. our highways are as shitty as our backroads. so hopefully when he gets it ran, it can be tucked up as far as possible.

I should add, the above picture is taken with the front end out of my garage, (garage floor is level, driveway is angled) so it looks VERY VERY low, but here in Winnipeg, Canada, I'll challenge you for the worst roads trophy any day of the year, hehe. I have never scraped. And I sit lower now than I did in that shot. If the OP wants a shot on flat pavement, I could nab one pretty quick, tomorrow.

heres my setup.. 3 inch from turbo back to vibrant resonator milltek muffler. The resonator fits perfect right in that spot. Want to add another muffler but theres not much room under there. I wish the bends went like the stock exhaust routing but the place that made it used staight pipes after flex joint and welded them on an angle. I had to use a hanger to get it from rubbing on the frame. Its loud, deep sounds good at wot but annoying as hell daily driving... thats why i upgraded the sound system

ground to fender 24.5 and looking to sit 24.25 by the end of the year. Now is this going to be a problem for me to run 3? am i to low? form some of the pics above it looks like the dp sits low

you gotta draw the line somewhere dude. you CAN have show and go, just need to find a happy medium. I think you'd have trouble with any aftermarket exhaust 2.5" and up.
go to a GOOD custom exhaust shop and have them make you something that can be tucked up nice and high, close to the heatshield, and honestly ask him what you can get away with in terms of diameter.

If anything, just run a 3" dp, that's the most important part anyway.. You're only running a 28rs, you don't need anything bigger than 2.5" anyway.
Lastly, I know people making 500+whp on 2.5" exhaust... That's not to say they'd gain absolutely no power by making it 3", but, there's bigger fish to fry when it comes to making power.

i run 3.5" all the way back on my s4, no problems (made it myself too) could have fit a 4" if i wanted to, but would be pointless
