spent $8000 and car might be totalled?!

So as many may have seen my post with my process of getting the car back together i had a big catastrophe this evening... long story but read it all

So ever since i was driving it i would get a random three beeps. It would only happen sometimes and then go away. I would look at the gauges and they all looked normal and the car acted just fine. My LED display is totally shot so i couldnt tell why it was beeping. When i turn the car on i can see the yellow top part that says "OK". Oh and the beeping happened at all speeds so it wasnt the speed warnign thing going off. I pulled all the codes and the car was fine. no codes to be pulled... So today in the morning i went to the stealership and got two new keys cut and programmed, along with an alignment and a tierod. anyways...

I was merging on to the highway tonight and got into traffic, got to the middle lane and went to pass someone. the car wouldnt accelerate that great and being the first time on the highway i floored it thinking the car wasnt that great with passing power. the car redlined and wouldnt shift and the car lost all power and i couldnt accelerate past 80mph. then the engine just died and i lost everything and was able to coast to the side of the road. I turned the key off and tired to restart and nothing. the battery was just installed last month and no idiot lights come on. my headlights light up just fine and all electronics work. When i go to turn the engine over i just hear one click and thats all.

when sitting on the side of the road right after i pulled over, i smelled this really bad burning. didnt smell good at all and so i got a tow back to my home, another $170

so intotal i spent $700 today and $8000 to get the car in its current condition.

im afraid my engine seized up and that i will have to part out the car...

i would never own a german car out of warranty...just too expensive if something goes wrong.

I cant believe this happened to you too! This just happened to me on Sunday I had to get my car towed and it ended up being the fuel pump. So that only cost me 50 because of the warranty, just when I thought everything was fine it wont accelerate like it usually does so now its back in the shop. GOOD LUCK

I have engine code P1113 which is Bank 1 Sensor 1: resistance too large.

does anyone know what that means? i searched and could only find out what it meant which i already knew...

Means you have a bad pre cat 02 sensor.

this guy on craigslist is selling his 2001 motor and i have 2000, but hes selling it for $200. would this motor drop right in? or what will i need to change to get this motor to even work with my ECU and stuff?

2000 and 2001 cars have different blocks but same heads and both use ME7. I'm not sure how the fitment of the block would work out for your application as your coolant hoses might have to be swapped out too. You would need the ECU and possibly the harness for sure. It's not plug and play.

2001 head has VVT, but that can be swapped out.

If you can get all the engine parts w/ ECU for $200 then do it. Thats a smoking deal.

Could be something as simple as a large boost leak, motor will stall if its large enough, should've tried disconnecting the MAF and then starting the motor.

Sounds exactly like what happened to me omw to school, turbo outlet hose popped off, lost all power, car started bucking, stalled, and coasted to a stop. Disconnected the MAF and limped the car to school, fixed it in the parking lot.

What in gods name did you spend 8k on in a Tip car? You must have one wealthy mechanic at the moment.

Do a compression check on the motor and see what it is. From what you said I would kinda lean toward the tranny. Maybe a cracked flex plate? that si what it kinda sounds like in the video. Also kinda weird you floored it and the car wouldn't shift and hit redline, if the tranny got "locked" between 2 gears in between a shift it would cause the car to lock up and shut off possible. the flex plate and tourque converter are alas spinning so even in park with the car not moving it could be making that noise. Just somethign you might watn to think about before buying a new motor.

Im trying to figure out what to do now. I have to leave for school in 2 weeks and the car is now in great condition but the motor is being goofy. I dont have the tools time or knowlege on how to rebuild a motor.

I just got new in the past month, rims and tires, boost guage, fenders, bumper, exhaust, batter, timing belt, detailing, DV, DP, H&R Coilovers, code reader, MAF, TB, alignment, Tie rods, brand new keys, water pump, thermostat, tensioner, belts, vac lines, perfect interior, all these things and i wonder if anyone would buy it in this condition and all these new parts...

i really need a four wheel drive for the winter at school and all the driving in minnesota i do and chicago land.

Why not? If the trans locks up while the car is in any drive gear, motor won't spin if something is preventing it from moving. stick a 2X4 in a motorcycles rear wheel while the engine is running and it is in gear, it will shut right off cause the drivetrain staled it out. It seems kinda fishy that he mashed the pedal and the car didn't go anywhere (no down shift?) and when he had it going the car hit redline (trans not shifting) All the syhmptoms seem to point to a tourque converter since the tourque converter is what pumps the fluid in the trans (causing crappy shifts) also explains that weird noise while he car is idling, since the tourque converter bolts to the flex plate, which bolts to the crank, all 3 spin while the motor is moving. I may be totally off the mark, so keep us updated on what the problem was

well i decided for this moment that i am going to be keeping the car. I am going to pull the valve covers and heads tomorrow to see what may be wrong and if nothing then pull the motor and see exactly what the problem is.

if your compression is good, you probaby did not seize your motor. I would do like the post said above and check your fuel pump. Also look for your code on audiworld.com maybe you will find somethign there.
