K04 on 2001 A4 ...Searched.

Right now i have a 2001 A4 1.8t qms and i am running revo software, GHL turboback, 710n dv, and evo cold air.. I was looking for a little more gains and i was thinking of going k04.. after lots of searching ive read the k04 is a waste on a 2001. Will i notice any gains? I plan on doing tt maf, injectors and upgraded intercooler. Also the Hammer file. I know just throwing the k04 on wont do much without supporting mods...Advice would help a lot, looking for a little more power but not really looking into a 28rs any time soon...

2001 uses the K03s (IIRC) installing a K04-015 wouldn't be worth the money. A fully tweaked K03s vs k04-015 would maybe make 5-15% more power.

Bolt on, your best bet would be an eliminator setup, but I'd go with the "real" turbo upgrade instead.

I hear ya.. also looked around and noticed theres better software out there than the REVO i have now, not much better but would help..

The k04 has a good amount of torque which I read from reviews makes you feel as if you have a BT. But in all actuality, you have maybe a max of 15-25 hp gain over a chipped/flashed k03s. Don't know if the money invested is worth it when you take into account the factors to get the full potential of the k04. That includes, FPR, injectors, FMIC, tune, and exhaust (you have GHL exhaust but no HFC or test pipe). Def not worth it. Might as well just get the GTRS.

And you said you don't want to get a GT28rs. If not, then go with the eliminator set. But as mentioned above, go full turbo if you plan on going BT. You could price a used GT28rs for cheap. I remeber a little while ago "Bassed" was selling his full set up for cheap. What I see missing from the kit is the filter for intake (but you already have an intake) and you would need at least a stage 3 clutch. After that, add things for your own comfort (peace of mind), like snub mounts, motor mounts, etc.

Yeha im really not sure what im going to do yet, keep an eye out for turbo's and keep reading up. i have a rs4 clutch with lightweight flywheel and HFC i forgot to mention..

If you find a used k04 for cheap and if Revo can upgrade the software for a decent price it can be worth it. My setup was less than $500 with a used k04 and GIAC flash. Powerwise, it felt like I rechipped my car, but held the power noticably longer than the k03s. You'll get bored with it in a month though..
