Pics now, story below.
I'm driving on a 3-lane highway(476), about 70mph, right lane. I am about 30 feet behind the next car in the far right lane going with the flow of traffic. Next thing I know, I'm faced with a 2 millisecond choice, straddle this unknown object (it was laying the way traffic was moving so other people must have straddled it), or take my chances and swerve around it.
I made the right choice by straddling it because there were other cars around, and its better to not swerve and potentially lose control of the car and endanger another life. So I try straddling it, but all the sudden the car goes fucking BAM!!! loud as shit! I'm like fuck...I cant fuckin get over it! I stop the car(no shoulder mind you) get out the Audi provided jack, and pull this fucking 8 foot like 40lb pylon from under my car within 1 minute like a pit stop dude.
6" x 6" x 8'. Thats right, 6 inches, by 6 inches, by 8 feet LONG.
After hitting it, I drug it about 60ft before stopping. There was so much friction between the wood and the asphalt it started to smoke and nearly catch fire RIGHT UNDER MY ENGINE. God forbid. Luckily, all that came out of it was 3 hours of my life gone, a slightly bent DTS and scared shitless friend. I realize I'm lucky.
cliffs: i hit a huge ass pole that was sitting in the middle of the highway. only bent my dts and scared my friend shitless.
Why are people so irresponsible? How could it have gotten there? Do you guys think there could be more damage?
I'm a pretty easygoing guy, but seriously this got to me...WHAT THE FUCK?
