    B5 A4 ECU Chip

I was looking into chipping my 1999.5 Audi A4 1.8T. It's actually a triptronic and I was wondering if anybody in the NOVA,DC, or MD area has chipped their triptronic 1.8t. Can you guys recommend any shops in the area that will install these chips. I know there are a couple GIAC and APR dealers within 30 miles of my house in Bethesda. Also, those of you with chipped B5s, what kind of gas mileage are you getting?

I've ran several GIAC stages over the years and had Curry's do all my software flashing. Mileage wise you'll get the same mpg as long as you don't use a lot of boost. Ofcourse you likely will since that's the fun in getting chipped, so you will lose a mpg or two. It's a tradeoff like anything else.

Only downturn to a chipped tiptronic is that the tranny hunts for gears more since the powerband is more on/off. Its minor but noticeable.

I was also thinking about installing a GAIC tiptronic chip which helps your transmission shift faster. Do you think the car would run much smoother with the two chips installed or do you think it would be fine with just the ecu chip upgrade?
