$500 Challenge

With a budge of $500 and a stock 1.8tq in dolphin grey, what should I (or anyone in general) do? I want to gear it more towards looks as I appreciate my mileage at the moment and know a chip would probably be the first performance thing I do, killing the budget.

I'm talking ANYTHING here.

LED strip fogs
paint the roof
rear trunk spoiler
pedals
USP bumper conversion
K&N filter (yes more toward performance but cheap)
paint calipers
paint engine cover
paint rims to match body color (dolphin grey so maybe a gun metal?)
interior trim

more other stuff not mentioned.

I mean ANYTHING. This can be fun and we can turn this in to an AZ community project and any and all donations of time, money, parts and labor will be welcomed. You can even donate toward a specific mod if you'd like!

Chip it, most bang for the buck, save up and do some more later, it will get you off that 170HP slump!

do you have RS4 rear sway yet? if not then you need to do that.
don't waste your time on your stock 1.8T brakes, they are crap! get some B5 s4 setup or straight to BBK when you have much more money.
black out grill and CC mod are DIY no money needed unless you don't have Plasti Dip paint.

Floormats - most likely can wait, I'd get a cheap $10 set if you are worried about keeping your carpets cleaned.

USP bumper conversion
K&N filter (yes more toward performance but cheap) not much performance at all, may mess up your MAF sensor when oiled incorrectly.

Yea I am definitely going to fix all the issues on my car ASAP. Problem is figuring out which issues I can resolve on my own and which ones I need to pay a pro to do. Then finding said pro at a fair price. The other thing is that a couple of things might be two in one. I want my bumper fixed but I want USP. I'm not gonna pay hundreds to fix it THEN pay hundreds to change it completely.

seriously, for 500, if you don't fix exterior dings and all, usp front and s4 replica spoiler. Or roof spoiler. either combo would be under 500 for parts. But then the cost of paint is another story. Classifieds for the neuspeed race sus with bilstein shocks. I think that was around 500.

dude but buy the USP lower for $190 like i did from the dealer and mod ur bumper take it to a Body shop and tell them fix it, and paint ur lowers, sell some Jordans if u have any lol and paint ur lowers as well! i modded before fixing and it always looked terrible no matter what i did!

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. I got $500 I'm willing to spend right now
I'm down to $225 because I just got tint and Audi all weather floor mats
I got no desire for performance out of this car just appearance

$500 doesnt really get you anything for an Audi. All the things in the OP are just aesthetic mods... I don't see the point. Save up longer or switch to a car that's cheaper to mod like a Honda. Those are your two options. Modding an Audi on a $500 budget is gonna make it look like ASS.

you could supercharge a Chevy cobalt to eat up corvettes for $1300, versus for our cars u could get a lame tune K04 which could barely beat a Geo Metro LSI!

For everyone's info and pleasure I am dumping all my money into fixing up all the issues. But first I'm going to do lots of polishing to see what I can do myself. I need to look into seeing where I can get a USP lower front bumper then eventually the rear. I called Audi down here and completely forgot what he said, but I think it was 300+ for the USP lower front. I'll probably be looking to spend close to 1200. I don't want to get the dings taken out/scratches fixed until I set up the front bumper issue so that I can get them all painted at once. Don't want to fuck up a nicely painted front when I'm trying to mod then paint the new lower.

Try a Delsa Lip Spoiler or VVME HIDs for about $70 respectively via eBay. RS4 Rear Sway is also a popular modification for only about $125.

For around $500 you could also look into getting an Avic D3 - I bought mine for about $550 and IMO its the best thing I've done so far!

genuineaudiparts has plenty of stuff at good prices. but when i look, i can only select my year and a4 sedan. i can't pick USP package or anything like that. Am i retarded? I need a link to a place where I can be gauranteed the USP lower. THANKS !

You sure that's wise? I mean didn't you jack up the paint when you tried to remove the duct tape residue off yourself? Maybe you should leave the aesthetic stuff to some one more skilled in such things. I'm not clowning you or nothing, just making an observation.

BTW, modding a A4 on $500 is feasible, APR, GIAC, or REVO Stage 1, $499.

Thats why I said I wanted to do the spoiler/bumper mod BEFORE I get it painted. As odds are I will f something up. By the way the really detailed DIY thread for the USP conversion mod does not have any pics.

OK I am an idiot and can not find this choose type 1 or type 2. I can't even link you to where I'm at because the way the site works doesn't have URL's for everything. But at genuineaudiparts.com in the body parts section I tell it I've got a 2003 audi a4 sedan. Then I click on bumpers and all I can find is the normal bumper and then left and right spoilers for it. I tried the same with the a4, same result except I have the option of the S4 too. I am an idiot. Also can't find the part for the black pillar piece in between the front and rear windows.
