AUDI Bike racks?!?

Has anyone on here used the AUDI roofracks? I am looking to get some racks to take my MTB on a roadtrip. I was thinking of getting the trunck rack, but I don't want to give law enforcement any other reasons to pull me aside(covers the license(sp?,tired) plate). I was talkin to a guy at a bike shop and he just wanted to sell me their products, of course. I have the base bars for the Audi racks, was just wondering if they are sturdy and safe. I have a $2000 Mountain bike, and really don't want it flying off of the roof on a 1900 mile drive..... Any sugestions? Any input would be great. Thanks!

I believe the Audi racks were built by Thule, so you should be able to find the accessories that fit and you'll be good to go.

Friend had that setup pretty much on his Jetta, VW base of course.

I have the Yakima setup and toss all my bikes up there

I use the back rack, and have had no problems with Law Enforcements or anything.. I dont have pics of the Audi with the trunk rack on, but it works great for us!

NO, no hitch. Is anyone aware if there are any states that would make me remove the trunk rack due to it covering the plate? Doing a trip from FL tO oHIO and back, could imagine a cop telling me to take the rack off midpoint.

I am driving to Audi today to look at the roof rack attachments. I don't think the attachments are sturdy due to they slinde into the groove on the bars, opposed to being hooked around the bars.... Hard to explain, and i can't send pics right now.

I will be in and around Lima, going to a wedding up there.
Went ahead and made a purchase. These will connect to the audi roof racks. I was impressed by the inovation of this setup. It holds 2 bikes and has a water proof bag for your dirty gear in the middle. The local shop had it for $339. I researched it once I got home to find reviews of it, and found one for $162 after shipping...didn't want to pass it up.
