    restore a 86 Coupe GT 5spd?

I have the chance to pickup a fair condition 1986 Coupe GT 5 spd. It's a one of those "get it out of my yard" type situations. It's not running right now but seems to just need some TLC, I can tow it away.

I'm gonna assume it's gonna need a complete rebuild but the body is decent and frame looks straight. Does anybody have one of these?? What kind of engine could I swap in here? I think the stocker is a 2.2L 5 cyl I would love to put in something bigger, maybe a roll cage.

I picked one up about two weeks ago. 034 Motorsports offers a VR6 conversion that includes the adapter plate, starter and flywheel for about $1K. That doesn't include the ECU, motor mounts or clutch. I bet it would cost over $2.5K for the conversion.

Another option is the turbo MC engine out of the Audi 5000. It bolts right in.

    "HELLO!!"
you guys heard of an AAN or 3B??? Why would you dump a 10V turbo in when you could toss a 5 cyl 20V Turbo in? You'd have definite traction issues however with front wheel drive. Used 3b's will run you about 1500 AAN around 2200.

I miss mine...it was an '81 Coupe GT. Bought it for $1,000, drove it for two years, and then sold it for $500. Fun little car...when it was running.
