    Re: Horn Issue?

If there is a high and a low horn like most cars, one of your horns is probably dead more then likely. That's why you're getting the farting noise.

    Re: Horn Issue?

I had the same problem on my A6, bought a new horn for the rear next to the 6 disc cd changer and still sounded the exact same. Guess what my A4 does the same thing, if you find out please tell me.

    Re: Horn Issue?

You can hook 12V directly to the horn and if it totally blows, it would be good.

    Have good or new honker?

I would check for a bad ground and hot lead at the horn, the wires, and also the harness connections on the CL module for corrosion. If all looks and checks good, it must be the CL module, might have a bad relay or other part inside slowly going phhht.

12v batt or putting a new horn in is better?

    Re: Horn Issue?

If you can get 12V to the horn with the + lead disconnected, you can test it using the cars batt rather than buy a new one. Once the horn is eliminated as the prob, you can look at some of the other items in the list of usual suspects.
