    Front end noise nightmare

I'm having a noise problem with the passenger side front wheel area. I have diagnosed and replaced front and rear bearings on this car before, so I know what kind of sound to look out for. All control arms up front are new, and I have tried rotating wheels/tires.

    Here's the story:

Noticed a whirring groaning sound that increased with speed and with weight transfer to the front pass side wheel. There was also a very slight loose wobble feeling in the steering wheel that intensified when transferring weight to the pass side. My pass front CV boot had been ripped for a while, so I figured thats what the loose pop like feeling was, and I also figured it could attribute to some of the noise as well... wrong..

Anyway, I replaced the front pass axle with a reman unit from napa, as I was in a bind. (I knew I should have went with raxles) I didnt notice any change in the symptoms at all. After doing this I figured it had to be the wheel bearing. I then replaced the wheel bearing. When pulling the bearing, I noticed it was warn and the hub had a little play.

Now I have a new bearing and reman axle up front. STILL getting the same noise problem.

Could the reman axle be bad? Where do I go from here?

rotate that wheel to the back to be sure its not the tire or something. Sounds dumb, but trust me. I replaced 2 rear wheel bearings only to find out it was my tire

Was you hub damaged (material worn off of it)?? if so you need a new hub and bearing now.

The hub didn't look damaged. It pressed in and out just fine and the play when away with the new bearing when I had the assembly off the car.

All signs are pointing to a new hub now?

If your stumped, it might be time to bring it to a mechanic...it might be easier then throwing parts at it. It may be time for a new hub, especially if you ruled out the tires.

It does sound like a new hub...

Is the new bearing already shot then?

It might be shot already, it may have been the hub all along. It's kinda like when people replace only pads to get rid of a brake noise, when they should have replaced the rotors too. Things maybe costly the first time but in the end you be happy at the results.

sure its the right front? i have had times when i thought it was one side but clearly the other jac the car up and spin the wheel and at the same time grab the spring. you will feel a vibration in the spring if the ebaring is bad.
    i heart my s4
