Blacked out four rings

This is my first post, and probably reflects that so bear with me. I have been trying to read stuff. (I found something in the B7 forum about the rings coming off, is this true of the rear and front? on the B6)

I do like the look of blacked out rings. Specifically on the front grill. I have seen black out surrounds but with chrome rings. Can I pop these off and paint them to match or carefully paint them still on?

i never took the rings off, but they probably have the same adhesive as the labels on the trunk? i'm sure someone will correct me if not. anyways, when i debadged mine, i heated the lettering up w/a hair dryer, then took dental floss and pulled it thru the trunk and the letters. they came off really easy. then took some finishing compound to get the rest of the adhesive off.

someone on this forum sells the black rings. i would buy them before i painted them myself. the pics of the ones for sale look great.

Yes the front rings can pop out of the grill. They are held in by plastic hooked tabs. Be careful not to force it and break them off. The rear badge is just adhesive so do what orb said...

I'm sure you could use plasti-dip on them. Home Depot sells it.

I used plasti dip on the chrome trim of my upper and lower grills, worked great.

i also want to black out my rings! so you can just pop the front one off and paint it..... the rear ones are already off... but im gonna need to find a way to reattach it if i paint it...

I am sure you could find some heavy duty double sided tape-like the ones Audi used originally, and cut them to fit the rings...?

yeah 2 sided tape or 3M spray can adhesive

I would actually recommend you just buy a new set of rings (either on ebay or from the dealer, they're actually not too expensive usually). It's way easier than trying to cut out the adhesive in the shape of the rings and just makes life way easier.

LOL...it is soo wrong. When I think of "blacked out girls", I think of the movie "Kids" when Casper is ramming the girl at the end that was trying to tell her BF throughout the whole movie that she had HIV.
