Yes, there is a flash counter.

No, the warranty cannot be voided strictly based off of the counter.

Also I believe this flash counter issue has been fixed with the latest rev APR so therefore is a non-issue. Oh and you must flash it is a no brainier seriously the best $600 bucks I have ever spent.
