Been on the board for a while trying to figure out a few things. Finally found a car I liked that matched my budget and now I'm the proud owner of a 2000 S4.

Saw the ad on autotrader and picked it up the next day... owner said he had it listed for 2 days and when I got there, he was surprised it went to fast. I showed up and literally, 3 minutes later, some other guy showed up asking about the car. I went for 1st test drive and I already had cash in hand so he was pretty screwed.

The owner was an elderley gentleman and the car only has 82,xxx miles on it. Great shape and he has the paperwork for replaced water pump and timing belt. He said he did all the oil changes himself every 4k miles. He showed me his stable of Porsches and he said he had a new S5 coming in so I knew he knows what he was doing so I wasn't really worried.

The car has a GIAC chip and pulls like a fucking freight train. My previous cars were 2003 BMW 325, 2000 S2000 and 2004 BMW 325 so this is a big change b/c it has so much damn torque. From the driving feel, I think the boost comes in around 3800 and it's very noticeable. Just kinda sends you back and the car just pulls. I had a lot of time to test it out on the drive from Lexington, KY back to Columbus, OH. Fun fun car!!!

nice... I got an extra set of Winter Wheels and mine has 3k fewer miles... I guess that explains the difference :dunno:

nonetheless, I think I got it for a good deal. A lot of the cars I saw w/similar mileage/condition were going for 14k at dealerships.

My car went from 184 to 300hp so I'm still getting used to the 116hp increase. Maybe in time after I get used to it, I might think of upgrading. Gotta get used to this jump before I up the power again or I might end up wrapped around a tree.

I'm still getting used to the quattro just hugging the road - like on an on/off ramp. Rear wheel drive kinda pushes the back end out when turning so you have to compensate for that... this car just seems like it has flawless handling!!

congrats... just take care of the turbos and they will take care of you. at least thats usually the case.... dont hit any boost until your oil temps are up around 175ish minimum and your water temp is up, but by the time oil temps are up thats usually already happened. any time you really get on the car drive out of boost the last few miles home and then idle for 15-20 seconds then shut car off... dont be boosting like a madman then shut the car off and expect all to be well!
